The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and perform reviews of retail sales and trading activity for adherence to regulation and firm policy. In this regard, the analyst will be responsible for working with colleagues in Retail Investments Compliance, technology, business supervisors and Branch Management in developing business requirements for surveillance reviews, as well as identifying, escalating and resolving issues to senior management. The job provides an opportunity for an independent, self-starter to develop a broad knowledge base across a variety of product segments and to interact with a number of different players/roles in the control environment.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of related working experience in the financial industry, preferably with an understanding of a varied list of products typically sold to the retail client base such as mutual funds, 529 plans, insurance, annuities, equities, structured products and alternative investments.
The candidate should have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with various participants in the control process at different levels within the organization.
An understanding of the development of business requirements and the technological implementation of surveillance reports is preferred.
Familiarity with Actimize is a plus.
Series 7, 63, 4, 66 or 9/10 licenses are a plus, but not mandatory.
The analyst should be able to effectively apply risk criteria in order to prioritize reviews and issues.
Experience with metric reporting also a plus.
The candidate will also be a consensus builder, able to work well within a matrix organization and must possess cultural sensitivities to work effectively in a global organization.
