SUMMARY: Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine is currently seeking a Greeter within the Emergency Department. The Greeters provide information, communication updates, comfort measures, direction and assistance to patients and visitors presenting to the Lancaster General Hospital Emergency Department for clinical services. This role documents interventions provided in EPIC under waiting room and or treatment room status links. Greeters maintain open communication with ED Charge nurse, ED Charge registrar and all healthcare team members present in the ED environment. This role provides customer service to patients, visitors and family members including the following age groups: neonatal (birth-30 days), pediatric (30 days through 12 years), adolescent (13-18 years), adult (19-64 years), and senior citizen (65 years and above). Greeters collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient and visitor experiences within the ED environment. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: · Greets and introduces self to persons arriving in the ED waiting room by using ED established customer service delivery method (Privacy, Introduce, Thank, Compassion, Hello/acknowledging family and friends, informing, and ensuring needs are met.) Provides comfort measures and communication/status updates for patients and family members in the waiting room and in treatment areas located throughout the ED. Notices patients unmet needs and works collaboratively with all healthcare team members within the ED environment to ensure timely resolution. · Keeps ED clinical team members abreast of concerns, issues/unmet needs or requests in both waiting room and treatment room areas. · Ensures patients are comfortable by offering items from customer care cart. Ensures patients and family members know expected wait times for diagnostic tests to be resulted. · Acts as liaison between patient and healthcare team members by effectively communicating all needs and concerns. · Provides updates regarding possible delays and estimated wait times. REQUIREMENTS: · High School Diploma and or GED required. · Bilingual preferred. · Evidence of strong customer focus, ability to deliver excellent high quality customer service within the ED environment · Understands essentials of customer service: (Active listening, compassion, understanding, positive non-verbal gestures and strong interpersonal skills.) · Ability to work in high pressure environment · Evidence of strong communication skills
