Position *Description*

Reporting to the Director of Analytics, primary responsibility of this role is to own performance review and related analytical tasks for Ally's Consumer Auto assets. This person will identify business challenges and opportunities for improving asset performance and solve for them using data analytics to make strategic or tactical recommendations.

The ideal candidate must be passionate about delivering results, must be an innovative and strategic thinker, willing to challenge status quo, can learn quickly, is self-motivated, detail oriented, and can sift through voluminous amounts of information to pinpoint which items are relevant to understanding business results. They will be able to apply knowledge of business and balanced judgment in interpretation of data (analytics). Demonstrate an understanding of and the ability to analyze quantitative information presented in a variety of formats. Position will be responsible for preparing crisp presentations supplemented with analysis that caters to C-level executives within Ally's Auto business. Depending on the qualifications, this position may have one direct report (Business Analyst).

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance of Ally's Auto portfolio with regards to delinquencies and losses, pricing expectations and overall profitability and identify segments with risks or opportunities
  • Develop monthly asset management review materials to be presented to senior executives of Auto business (EVP level and above), with emphasis on loss performance and provide insights on emerging trends
  • Work cross functionally with Credit Risk, Product, Pricing, Finance and Operational Strategy teams to drive timely and accurate analysis on portfolio performance at sub-segment level and any reasons for deviation from expected/forecasted performance
  • Lead development of additional portfolio monitoring tools (using advanced analytical toolsets) that provide a comprehensive view of performance through the lifecycle of a loan on risk (default, loss etc.) and profitability metrics (margins, cost, ROI etc.)



  • A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, management science or similar discipline; MBA preferred
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, with exposure to or direct experience in risk management functions
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience working with large datasets with SAS and/or SQL
  • Advanced knowledge MS Excel and Power-point required; hands on experience with tools like Tableau preferred
  • Candidate should possess outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to details
  • Quick learner and has demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and execute small to medium scale projects
  • Work well within a team of analysts and collaborate with individuals with technical and non-technical backgrounds
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present material
  • Ability to work effectively in fast paced environment with tight deadlines


  • Experience in consumer automotive finance industry or management consulting in financial services sector
  • Knowledge of and experience with analysis/reporting packages (Cognos, Power BI etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge in developing queries and procedures in SAS (ex. EG) and SQL
