The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System is seeking a full time teleradiologists. Successful candidates must have completed a formal ACGME residency in diagnostic imaging and must be board certified, or planning to sit for the American Board of Radiology Certifying examination in diagnostic radiology. Fellowship training in body imaging, emergency radiology, neuroimaging or musculoskeletal imaging is strongly preferred but not essential, depending upon experience.

An appointment with our affiliate hospital the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, located next door,may be available to qualified applicants.

Total salary will include base component and market pay. Final pay will be determined by local Physician Pay Panel. Physicians are eligible for annual performance pay and incentive awards.

Provide around the clock imaging interpretation service to remote client locations.

Access studies for interpretation through the VISN 16 Picture Archiving and Communications System(s) and reports findings electronically through the VISN 16 voice-recognition dictation software.

Interprets diagnostic digital radiography, CT, MRI and US examination of the head, spine, neck, body, extremities and internal organs as appropriate.

Protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, Federal regulations, VA statues and policy, and VHA policy. Protects data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion. Follow application regulations instruction regarding access to computerized files, release of access code, etc.

Communicate and documents communication of life-threatening finding immediately to referring physicians at remote facilities.

Functions in professional manner in all relationships with management, co-workers and referring physicians.

Uses word processing software to execute several office automation functions such as storing and retrieving electronic document and files; activating printers; inserting; and deleting text; formatting letters, reports, and memoranda; and transmitting and receiving email. Uses of the Veterans Health Information and Technology Architecture (VISTA) to access information in the Medical Center Computer System.

Work Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off-great flexibility for travel, other interests.

Basic Requirements:

  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine.
  • Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the States, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of the first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of the Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
