The Sales Program Manager is a Sales Support Expert and provides senior strategic sales cycle support in the West supporting the Regulated Industries Market Unit. This individual is responsible for driving Regulated Industry demand generation plan with pipeline build strategies and development of scale initiatives resulting in 4X pipeline across all Solutions/Sales Segments.

He or she will act as a Trusted Advisor to the West Market COO and GM by providing high impact demand generation recommendations and enablement plans based on analysis of pipeline and other available data.

Expectations and Task:

  • Continuous analysis of the Demand Management Dashboard, and other available data, to understand areas of strength and weakness across relevant solution areas and sales teams

  • Lead and execute the GTM plans for the MU/Solution area; contribute and validate high-quality business plans which clearly articulate solution strategy, GTM activities and key execution steps. This could include areas such as: enablement, launches, ramp-up solution strategy and roll-in, pricing, investment cases, M&A, strategic partnering.

  • Participate, and in some instances lead, weekly & monthly Demand Management meetings with the MU COO and Senior Sales Leadership focused on securing buy-in and driving execution of these recommendations

  • Understand the MU demographics to provide high-value Sales Program/Play recommendations to the Industry & Solution AEs based on their specific industry focus areas, account whitespace and LOB targets

  • Present GTM strategies and programs to our senior leadership team, our partners and our sales field for Market Unit Buy-In and Senior Leadership approval.

  • Provide standardized approaches for value based sales program activities

  • Package tactical sales plays, tailored to specific targeted customer segments.

  • Manage across silos to deliver high impact programs with minimum time to revenue

  • Work with partners in areas such as business development, packaged solution development and solution cross-selling.

  • Considered a trusted advisor to our customers (both internal customers - the field, and external customers) to role model SAP's values.

  • Provide “Voice of the Field” input to Programs team and VAT to help drive continuous improvement and relevance of program deliverables


  • Exceptional relationship building skills, ability to collaborate & sell internally to achieve targets

  • Strong financial & business acumen, and an understanding of SAP’s Strategy and North American GTM goals with the ability to translate these into high-impact actionable plans for the MU/BU and AEs

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Passion to challenge, improve and innovate at both a personal and organizational level


  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Work Experience Required. MBA or Equivalent Degree Strongly Preferred

  • Professional experience in Sales & Business Development with large, multi-national software/IT organizations

  • Regulated Industry software product experience and/or 8-15 years prior relevant solution sales/business development experience.

  • Experience of selling software solutions/services in to the Public Sector (Local and National Government level) would be preferred, with an understanding of how procurement works in this environment.

  • Proven track record of driving business results

  • Customer-facing experience.
