The regular faculty appointment for new hires at the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System will be a nine-month appointment consisting of 168 duty days distributed over nine consecutive months. Unless otherwise indicated in the vacancy announcement, faculty appointed to a nine-month position are likely to have a schedule similar to the regular academic year.

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Computer and Information Science (CIS) Department as needed. Typical teaching responsibilities include twelve (12) credits per semester of instruction, usually comprised of three courses of four credits each.
Advise undergraduate majors.
Supervise/advise graduate students.
Conduct research productively and mentor students in research.
Conduct continuous research and development in area(s) of specialization.
Provide service to the university and community.
Doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related field, confirmed on an official transcript by August 14, 2017.
Demonstrated success in or potential for delivering quality instruction at the university level in two or more of the following areas: programming, data structures, machine structures, operating systems, networking.
Demonstrated success in or potential for research productivity at the university level in one or more of the following areas: programming, data structures, machine structures, operating systems, networking.
Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with students, staff and faculty.
University/college teaching experience.
Ability to teach graduate courses.
Record of professional development with undergraduate and/or graduate students through advising and research mentoring.
Record of procuring funding from external sources.
Record of collaboration.
Expertise, industry experience, and/or certifications in networking.
Compatibility of research with Minnesota State University, Mankato's infrastructure.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

Additional Information:Applications from qualified candidates who are currently in industrial positions are also welcomed, and appropriate weighting will be given to demonstrated success in teaching and research in industrial settings. The department of Computer Information Science is comprised of ten full-time faculty members actively engaged in teaching, research and service. The department offers two undergraduate majors, Management Information Systems and Computer Information Technology, a master's degree in Information Technology, a Professional Science Master's in Information Security & Risk Management, as well as minors and certificates for students with varying interests and backgrounds. Additional undergraduate and graduate degree programs are being developed.
