Payroll Tax Supervisor


  • Set up and research new tax locations and jurisdictions in the payroll system

  • Complete payroll tax registrations for new Federal, State or Local jurisdictions.

  • Work effectively with tax jurisdictions as needed.

  • File and remit payroll taxes and research and resolve issues between various taxing jurisdictions.

  • Reconcile local, state and federal taxes monthly, quarterly and annually, as required.

  • Responsible for completing and filing all payroll tax returns not supported by the third party tax Partner with HR, Operations and General Ledger Accounting to identify and review items with cross-departmental impacts.

  • Create Cognos reports to manage and review tax related information for analysis, problem solving and audits.

  • Support internal and external audit requests related to tax.

  • Provide tax analyst support on set up, reconciliation and tax filings.

  • Create departmental training documentation.


  • 3-5 years of payroll tax supervisory experience required

  • Strong Cognos reporting – ad hoc queries

  • Deltek Cost Point experience preferred

  • Experience interpreting Union Contracts & experience with International payroll and tax requirements a plus

  • Strong Excel Skills

  • Experience leading projects and process improvements


  • Detail orientated individual with strong problem solving skills and commitment to compliance

  • A demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service and the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form

  • Excellent communication and organization skills

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Able to work independently and self- review.
