PAE, Inc Project Coordinator in McMurdo Station, Antarctica

GENERAL DUTIES (not all inclusive):
Promotes a safe work environment and ensures that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
Provides operational department and science coordination, planning, scheduling, inventory procurement and personnel/cargo movements in support of science projects in the Antarctic.
Executes project plan in coordination with the Field Manager, Science Project Manager, and Implementation Manager.
Provides science teams with a single point of contact with coordination, planning, scheduling of passenger and cargo movements in McMurdo Station and field locations.
Provides leads and work center supervisors with a single point of contact with coordination, planning, scheduling of passenger and cargo movements in McMurdo Station and field locations.
Provides daily and weekly Maximo inventory reports.
Directs personnel on station to provide United States Antarctic Program (USAP) system support. Coordinates activities within the Work Center, with other Work Centers and community members.
Coordinates communication between science and field teams and McMurdo Work Centers while in McMurdo or in the field.
Works with aircraft and/or helicopter coordinators and Antarctic Terminal Operations staff for movement of rotator personnel and/or resupply cargo to projects while in the field.
Coordinates science sample movements and storage.
Interfaces with schedulers to maintain an integrated system of schedules, consistent with Area Directorate methods and tools used.
Keeps the Field Science Manager and Science Project Manager informed of the current and future status of schedules and related activities including work center support.
Provides bi-weekly science event updates to the Field Science Manager, Implementation Manager and the National Science Foundation
Insures the Research Support Plan (RSP) is consistent with the Operational Notice, seeks approval for changes from the National Science Foundation.
Maintains and develops a library of all traverse related documents (end of season reports, equipment inventories, route data, budget estimates, standard operating procedures (SOPS), job hazard assessments (JHAs), etc. that is submitted to the Field Science Manager and Science Project.
Maintains accurate inventory records and assures adequate materials are on hand for planned activities.
Represents project interests in the absence of the Field Manager or Science Project Manager.
Interacts with the National Science Foundation (NSF), Cold Regions Research Engineering Laboratory (CRREL), vendors, military and other agency officials in a professional and tactful manner.
Insures the RSP level of support is provided on ice seeks approval for changes from the National Science Foundation
Assists in the Support Information Package (SIP) planning process, writing of the RSPs and is the on ice implementer for field science events
Coordinates training and indoctrination for new and returning field and science teams.
Provides support to technical event representatives as required.
May be required to work outside on various job sites in extreme cold weather conditions.
Performs other duties as required.
High school diploma required. Bachelor of Science or Business Administration preferred.
4 years’ (seasons) experience or two in supervisory roles with the USAP required.
Valid driver's license required.
Minimum 2 years’ experience and competency in the USAP procurement process and project scheduling.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Must be proficient with custom and off the shelf database systems. Experience using Maximo, PolarIce, and Pipeline is preferred
Familiarity with Project Management tools is required. Experience in project scheduling is required.
Must be customer service oriented.
Experience working in extreme remote environments is desired.
Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods is required.
Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum.
Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
Must successfully complete the physical, dental and psychological (if applicable) examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica.
Must participate in community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safety objectives.
US citizenship is required.
