Washington State DSHS Food Service Supervisor 2 in McNeil Island, Washington

The Department of Social and Health Services, Rehabilitation Administration (RA), Special Commitment Center (SCC) is recruiting for a Food Service Supervisor 2 position that reports to the Food Service Department at the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island.
In your role you'll supervise, coordinate, and participate in the preparation and serving of all meals according to pre-planned menu on an assigned shift in an adult civil commitment facility. You will be involved in the preparation of all therapeutic dietary needs of residents. You daily duties will consist of assisting in the planning and execution of food service menus. You will be responsible for directing residents in preparing, cooking, and sanitary practices in a large institutional kitchen while following and enforcing the Washington State Food Code guidelines.
Perform assigned duties in a secure residential facility for adult sex offenders detained or committed for psycho-social treatment, who have a history of violent sexual offenses against others. Respond appropriately and cope with occasionally abusive, harassing or threatening language and/or aggressive behavior from residents.
SCC staff must be willing and able to ride a passenger boat between Steilacoom and McNeil Island. The boat/ferry ride is approximately 20 minutes one way and not part of the paid work hours.
Who We're Interested In
High School diploma or GED certificate and four years of experience in an industrial, commercial, or institutional food service or patient tray service including One year as a lead, supervisor, or equivalent; OR An Associate degree in food service management, nutritional care, or related field; AND one year of food service supervisory experience; OR A Bachelor's with major course work in restaurant or hotel management, or closely related field.
Must have a valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit.
Desirable Skills and Abilities:
Being professional at all times and a positive role model to residents. Be willing to work with civilly committed, sexually violent predators. Valid State of Washington Driver's license.
