The scope of projects will include transport operations, logistics operations, inventory planning, materials management, spares management and third party logistics (3PL) operations. The role is also responsible for driving innovation and continuous improvement that reduces costs and improves the client experience. This is a senior role reporting to the account executive and requires daily contact with client executives. A strong background in complex project management is essential and experience in supply chain logistics, inventory management, client management and people management are desired pre-requisites for the role. Duties/Task Description – the deliverables/results the employee will be expected to achieve:
Manage critical & complex logistics projects from end to end and deliver the defined outcome on schedule and within budget.
Use agile techniques to deliver outcomes quickly and cost effectively.
Define project scopes and ensure these are agreed with the client.
Develop and implement logistics solutions.
Develop and maintain relationships with key client contacts.
Provide day-to-day direction to the teams under their control.
Develop relationships with third party logistics providers and oversee their contribution to innovation & continuous improvement.
Lead innovation and continuous improvement projects as required.
Liaison with internal and external customers to understand business requirements.
Execution of project plans including driving the completion on tasks and ensuring supporting functions such as change management and training are completed.
Provide regular metrics and project status updates to the customer.
Provide regular status updates and reports to IBM management.
Support the deliverables plan ensuring all cross team dependencies are documented and managed.
Closely work with peer managers to ensure tight alignment of objectives and expectations.
Define and monitor issues, dependencies, risks and risk mitigation strategies.
Facilitate sharing best practices, with documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
Support and encourage cross-team collaboration.
Prepare and deliver client presentations.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Demonstrated knowledge current and world leading project management methodologies.
Experience in both business and IT projects
Senior project management skills – a minimum of 10 years’ project management experience.
Proven management experience and success in supply chain operations, especially related to logistics operations and inventory management.
Demonstrates honesty and integrity.
Ability to manage a complex set of goals and outcomes.
Strong business acumen and ability to determine priorities.
