DescriptionMedicare Patient Accounts Representative processes and monitors billing and follow up of claims submitted for payment to insurance payors, governmental payors and state agencies. In the normal course of duties and responsibilities, this position requires access to protected health information (PHI) and electronic protected health information (EPHI). Candidate will be handling the denials and resubmitting of claims. The PHI and EPHI accessed are limited to only the minimum necessary amount of PHI and EPHI necessary to perform the functions of this job. PHI and EPHI are accessed through various computer applications, contact with patient, Health Information Services, Case Management, and/or other System departments with whom interaction is necessary.
Working hours: 8:00am-5:00pm
-1-2 years of Medicare billing experience required.
-Working knowledge of billing and reimbursement policies as well as compliance regulations of third party payors and governmental payors.
-Excellent knowledge of HIPAA and CMS guidelines.
-Knowledge of electronic billing process and collection experience required.
-Some coding experience preferred.
-Basic typing, data entry and computer skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Certified Patient Account Representative (CPAR) certification would be a plus.
