Bayer Staff Scientist Product Development Analytical in Morristown, NJ, New Jersey
Your tasks and responsibilities
The Staff Scientist, with minimum supervision from the AD Management, is responsible for helping product development, and is required to:
• Independently design and perform extensive analytical laboratory work to support product development; • Independently develop efficient and accurate analytical procedures that meet all current regulatory requirements; • Independently develop efficient, accurate, and Quality Control laboratory friendly analytical procedures that can be used at QC laboratories located globally at different manufacturing sites; • Help the team understand the underlying chemistry of the new products that are being developed; • Accurately process the data/results, interpret, document, and enter results into the notebooks and Laboratory Information Management System (if necessary); • Precisely and thoroughly document the learnings and share the knowledge with the teams; • Develop analytical procedures that can be used to build up knowledge spaces/design space/control space for both analytical methods development and product development; • Independently design method validation/transfer protocols; • Independently and correctly prepare product specifications, testing protocols, reports as necessary.
The Staff Scientist is responsible for the overall success of product development and is required to:
• Effectively manage assigned projects to ensure tests are completed in time; • Prioritize the work to ensure on time delivery of results and achieve critical project milestones; • Track the product development and analytical development activities; • Communicate timely and effectively to stakeholders the analytical activities and findings.
The Staff Scientist is responsible for people development and is required to:
• Provide guidance to junior level scientists • Develop the team members for their professional growth; • Ensure team members follow written procedures and analytical laboratory practices; • Perform documentation review; • Work with other teams to support the overall success of AD; • Work with other functional groups to support the overall success of Innovation & Development.

• Bachelor’s Degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum eight years of proven experience, a Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum of four years of proven experience, or a Ph.D. (or international equivalent) with a minimum of two years. • This individual must be highly motivated, have a positive "can-do" attitude and the ability to work in a fast paced environment as a collaborative team leader as well as an individual performer. • Experience in leading project, people and teams • Thorough knowledge of analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, AA, IR, UV-VIS) • Must have an in depth understanding of GMP, HA and internal requirements. • Must have an in depth working knowledge of various types of software including LIMS, OpenLab, ELN, Empower, MS Office.
