Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic

Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic:

The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic has responsibility for maintenance and repair operations of a large fleet of DOS assets. This responsibility includes, but not limited to: light and heavy vehicles, construction equipment, cranes, graders, ATV’s and material handling equipment.

Specific duties include but not limited to:

  • Provides vehicle maintenance and motor pool services.

  • Coordinates with appropriate POC to schedule vehicle maintenance and dispatch.

  • Provide scheduled coverage for a 24/7 vehicle maintenance operation.

  • Perform maintenance of hydraulic lift stations utilized for light and heavy vehicles as required by specific job description.

  • Be available for disposal and control of hazardous waste generated by motor pool operations as required by your job description.

  • Participate in safety training program for motor pool employees and oversee operator training for embassy vehicles and heavy equipment.

  • Participate in required training to utilize safety equipment.


  • Advanced knowledge of maintenance, supply principals and support systems for material handling and heavy equipment.

  • Experience in the maintenance of large fleets.

  • Knowledge of safety precautions related to maintenance of heavy equipment.

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.


  • Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: Must have ten years’ experience as a vehicle mechanic and five years as supervisor of a mixed crew of mechanics, drivers, and parts/inventory clerks if in a lead or supervisor role .

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent education is required. A vocational diploma in Vehicle Maintenance or completion of an ASE certified school is required.

  • Security Vetting: Already possess a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT), Secret, or TS clearance, or be able to obtain a favorable MRPT certification prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification level for the duration of the contract.

  • Language Skills: Strong, professional, oral and written English communication skills.

  • Citizenship: US Citizenship is required.

  • Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination.


  • Relevant overseas contract experience.

  • Experience working with PAE.
