Global Finance Product Control seeks an experienced product controller to join the team.This is an exciting opportunity to utilize analytical skills and increase knowledge in a dynamic and growing area that focuses on the fundamental products of the finance industry.The candidate will be placed within a team that supports Hong Kong Equity Derivative businesses or Japan Rates Derivatives businesses.The candidate will be exposed to a diverse set of derivatives products ranging from interest rate swaps (IRS), credit default swaps (CDS), structured exotic products and develop an understanding of the risk attributes used to measure exposure and manage these products from a financial, reporting and control perspective.Additionally, the analyst will perform independent valuations on trading assets as part of the Price Verification analysis, which requires learning about the product, its valuation techniques, and the markets in which it trades.This role relies upon the ability of the candidate to challenge the trading desk on pricing discrepancies.As a dynamic business with high volume, it requires close day-to-day communication with the trading desk, support functions and management.Coupled with changing regulatory requirements, such as the increasing role of clearing houses and electronic trading platforms, Dodd Frank and Volcker Rule, the candidate will be constantly challenged in this role and will acquire a breadth of knowledge, including, but not limited to:

lUnderstanding of the role of the trading desk and product control within an financial institution

lImportance of controls and integrity of the general ledger

lUnderstanding of derivatives products and its risk measurements

lUnderstanding of Profit Attribution Analysis and Independent Pricing

lAwareness of the changes in the regulatory landscape post 2007 crisis


lDaily Profit and Loss (PL) analysis and reporting

lPreparation of market commentaries to explain significant PL movements and events

lReconciliation of income statement and balance sheet to risk systems

lPrice verification and analysis to ensure pricing to fair value as required by FAS157 for mark-to-market accounting

lLiaising with other areas internal and external of Finance to ensure consistent adherence to policies and procedures

lCoordinating resolution of issues with cross functional teams, including front office, market risk, and operations

lPerforming analysis for ad hoc requests regarding regulatory, valuation, risk and operational concerns.



lStrong skill with system architecture and information management, and with all Microsoft Office Products, external market data services, emphasis on Excel as a functional analytical tool

lAble to travel for training within Asia Pacific

lAble to articulate, explain and defend viewpoint on issues and results of analysis

lTargeting 6-9 years of derivative product control experience with an investment bank

lFour year bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in Finance, Accounting or related field

lCFA or MBA a plus

lStrong understanding of accounting fundamentals

lDerivative product knowledge or financial control experience

lStrong interpersonal skills and verbal communication skills

lA good team player, with excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic

lProblem solving skills and an innovative approach to work are also required

lAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet assigned deadlines required

lDesire to move up within organization and take on growing responsibility

lFixed Income derivatives concentration for a majority of the candidate’s experience required
