Teach Welding and Metals Fabrication evening group in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Develop daily lesson plans and teaching aids, using appropriate instructional technology
  • Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process
  • Assess student outcomes and provide regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students
  • Complete professional development and in-service activities in accordance with college standards
  • Maintain expertise in subject area and implement improvements in curriculum design, as needed
  • Maintain industry connections to assure curriculum consistency with employer needs
  • Perform academic advising and graduate job placement referrals and assistance
  • Participate in Departmental and College meetings
  • Conveys by words and action the values expected by CWI
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Knowledgeable in:
  • Performing many welding processes, including: Shielded Metal ARC Welding (SMAW) (STICK); Gas Metal ARC Welding (GMAW) (MIG); Flux Cored (FCAW); Gas Tungsten ARC Welding (GTAW) (TIG)
  • Performing manual, semi-automatic, and automatic oxygen-acetylene burning
  • Performing air carbon ARC and plasma cutting and gouging
  • Operating fabrication tools and equipment
  • Reading blueprints
  • Utilizing appropriate fabrication techniques
  • Maintaining quality control
  • Identifying properties of materials
  • Understanding basic metallurgy
  • Pressbrake operation
  • CNC Plasma
  • AutoCAD
  • Industry experience acquired by at least eight years full time applicable work experience in Welding and Metals Fabrication
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector Certificate or the ability and qualifications to acquire one within 12 months of hire date (see AWS BS.1 Section5).
  • Possess or qualify for an Occupational Specialist Certificate from Idaho Division of Professional Technical Education (see for requirements). Certificate or confirmation of pending certificate from PTE is required prior to start date
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and presentation skills
  • Teaching experience at a community college level preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in the discipline or related field with three years full time applicable experience preferred
  • Ability to utilize different methods and mediums in delivering course materials preferred
  • Proficiency in computer applications preferred
  • Local (Treasure Valley) candidate with industry affiliations preferred
