TriStar Skyline Medical Center is currently looking for aSurgical Scrub Technologist.

_POSITION SUMMARY:_ * Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
* Functions as scrub person during operative procedures. * Assists in the intra-operative care of the patient by performing technical duties as assigned. * Performs proper scrub according to policy * Prepares instrumentation according to physician’s preference cards and scheduled procedure * Demonstrates aseptic technique * Accurately performs surgical counts according to policy and procedure * Demonstrates proper use of instruments, equipment, suturing, and stapling devices. * Saves and properly identifies all specimens according to department policy and procedure * Follow departmental policy for proper use of personal protective equipment during procedures * Prepares the case cart postoperatively for return to sterile processing. Separate instruments according to policy. * Prepares and properly disposes of sharps, blood, and waste according to policy and procedure * Performs as a preceptor as assigned * Assists in preparing the operating room and performs assigned support duties during surgical procedures. * Assists team members in selecting and preparing routine supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures. * Checks all instruments for workability prior to usage, displaying knowledge of instrument and content of set. * Assists in returning equipment and instruments to proper locations following departmental procedures. * Assists in procuring instrumentation in accordance with surgeon’s preference card, knowledge f the procedure, in consideration of the anatomy involved. Anticipates the needs of patients and procures instrumentation according to those needs. * Assists team members in selecting and preparing routine supplies, instruments and equipment for the surgical procedure according to the procedural card. * Readies all positioning devices deemed necessary by procedure, surgeon preference and patient pre-operative assessment. * Identifies and transports patients as needed assists with shaving the operative site when indicated. Secures all necessary x-rays when appropriate. * Shares responsibility for patient’s safety at all times. Maintains an environment that is free of obstacles and hazards that could result in injuries to personnel and patients. * Assists with positioning of patient, provides protection for pressure points, and keeps body parts in proper alignment. * Assures that the procedure information is documented on the procedural cards for future reference according to policy and procedure. Documents patient positioning required supplies, equipment and instruments to maintain current doctors’ preference card. * Assists in cleaning room following procedure according to departmental policy. Assist in returning all supplies equipment and instruments to proper locations following the case.

_POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:_ * Graduate of approved surgical technology program * Current CST certificate * 1 year experience required * Ortho and Spine experience preferred
