The Senior SQL Server Database Administrator is a leader within our Data Management organization, and provide operational support of our existing database environment, development support for the creation of new applications and for the implementation and customization of 3rd-party packages, and guidance and expertise for the continuous improvement of uninterrupted operations.
The Senior DBA will work with other technicians, business analysts, and business owners to understand requirements and identify solutions. The Senior DBA is expected to possess and utilize significant breadth and depth of experience in the design, development, maintenance, and administration of databases, and will be expected to work with little supervision. The key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following: 1. Physical database design, construction, & implementation using current database technology 2. Collaborative design & development with programmers and business analysts 3. Problem analysis, diagnosis, and implementation of resolutions 4. Performance monitoring & tuning 5. On-call support for production systems, job streams, and processes 6. Database backup (archive) & recovery 7. Business continuity planning 8. Capacity planning, monitoring, and upgrade implementation 9. Software upgrade planning and implementation
Required Job Skills: • Strong interpersonal skills, including a desire to work within a highly-matrixed, team-oriented environment. Independent operators are not sought and will not be successful in this position. • Demonstrated performance monitoring and tuning ability, including an aptitude to lead the diagnosis and resolution of performance problems within a large-scale, complex infrastructure. • Expertise is one or more of the following: database partitioning, database compression, data encryption, replication, disaster recovery. • Expertise in configuration and administration of database security. • Expertise in guiding all facets of database administration through the complete application development project life cycle (requirements definition, design, implementation, and operational support). • Familiarity with lean/agile development is considered a plus, as this will be an increasingly common approach. • Ability to define and gain adoption of best practice techniques.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree.
Requires more than 5 years total IT experience and more than 3 years SQL Server DBA experience.

AlwaysOn experience a plus
Networking: • Thorough understanding of networking with respect to database connectivity and troubleshooting of connectivity errors
Certifications: • Considered a plus
