LCMC Health Lead Payroll Coordinator in New Orleans, Louisiana

POSITION SUMMARY:The LCMC Lead Payroll Coordinator will perform a variety of professional/administrative Human Resources/Payroll functions for the organization. The purpose of the job is to lead the process toward paying employees in accordance with internal guidelines and federal, state and local regulations in a timely and accurate fashion. This is an essential position that will take a lead role in the case of Emergencies or Disaster Staffing.

SKILLS: Solid understanding and ability to interpret best payroll practices, policies, and guidelines. Ability to process accurate payroll in a timely manner and reconcile reportable wages and taxes. Experience with supervising staff and payroll process. Strong understanding of Federal, State, and Local Tax requirements. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization regarding complex matters of pay. Strong skills with Microsoft Excel required and prior experience with HRIS systems such as Lawson or ADP/Kronos preferred. Must have basic math skills and operate a 10-key adding machine with speed.

Able to exercise good judgment and confidentiality in all matters. Ability to identity and effectively utilize resources to accomplish multiple tasks with high priority. Ability to apply critical thinking skills to identify appropriate resolution for routine and non-routine issues. Must have strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task and analyze data and provide recommendations. Ability to handle multiple deadlines and projects under a fast paced environment. Must be self-directed with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interpret regulations pertaining to Federal and State reportable items to various agencies authorities. Must be able to multi-task with minimal supervision. Knowledge of spreadsheets and use of Excel formulas required.


Time and Attendance 10.0%

  • Assumes lead role in analysis of time and attendance data

  • Communicate & assist managers & employees in resolution of time and attendance concerns.

Payroll Cycle Processing __15.0%

  • Responsible for complete processing of payroll cycle including assistance during year end W-2 processes.

Payroll Set Up Testing (ADP and Lawson) 10.0%

  • Updates ADP/Lawson systems with changes in pay and deduction codes.

  • Works with IT, HRIS and vendors to adequately test and update systems.

  • Reviews garnishment and levies for accuracy in set up

Tax Payments and Bank Processing 10.0%

  • Assumes lead role in balancing of biweekly federal and state tax payments.

  • Works with staff and banks to troubleshoot direct deposit and ACHissues

Staff Supervision 5.0%

  • Assists Payroll Manager in day to day supervision of payroll Coordinators

  • Assists in New employee orientation and training.


High School Education

Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s degree

Experience: Required: 1-3 years of prior supervisory payroll experience in a payroll function. Previous payroll experience in a healthcare setting preferred. 7 year’s experience in supervisory/management of lead position in healthcare environment for mid to large size organization. Experience and knowledge of Lawson and Kronos is preferred. Knowledge of spreadsheets and use of Excel formulas required
