The role of Low Touch Electronic Trading Senior Manager within the Business Coverage Group is a critical and influential one. The primary function of Operational Risk Management is to focus on the Anticipation, Mitigation and Recovery of Operational Risk. Operational Risk brings together all the framework elements (operational risk events, risk and control indicators, assessments and evaluations) to assess risk tolerance and effect informed decision making.
One of the key roles of Operational Risk Management has been to focus on Systemic High Severity Risks. Where other roles within the Business Coverage group align vertically with the ICG business lines, Low Touch Electronic Trading is a key operational risk which is addressed horizontally across business lines.
Working with colleagues in Operational Risk Management, Business, IT and other control functions, the Low Touch Electronic Trading Analyst is expected to contribute to:
Administration of the Governance Framework for Low Touch Electronic Trading across the Firm
Oversight and challenge of risk management in the first line business and IT organizations
Educating constituents on LTA Policy
Developing models to quantify risk associated with specific systems and/or trade flows
Analyzing operational risk data (typically IT Incident Data, loss events, metrics or assessment results) to identify areas of excessive risk
Investigating what is causing control metrics to deviate from trend and escalating situations that pose excessive risk
Analytically building and implementing risk appetite, scenario analysis and risk tolerance methodology in the context of Operational Risk
Identifying root causes of major internal or external trading losses and ensuring similar businesses around the world are aware of risks and recommendations
Lead and support development of quantitative techniques and tools for Risk Analytics on Electronic Trading.
Partnering with technology, perform risk assessment and monitoring methodology for LTA platforms
Liaise with all relevant businesses and functional areas to uncover and highlight risks associated with Electronic Trading
Build and implement risk appetite and risk tolerance analytics for LTA
Keep pace with the latest developments in academia, regulatory environment, risk technology (vendor and in-house) and financial services industry in order to provide expert guidance to the Citi businesses
Support regulatory examinations and internal audits
Maintaining familiarity with regulatory and market developments
Support communication to senior stakeholders on status of risk across the low touch activity environments
Knowledge of Capital Markets products and electronic trading required. Experience within the operational risk discipline preferred.
Skills and Experience
The individuals which would be considered for these positions should have the following characteristics:
Strong product knowledge
Exposure to execution algorithms- either as a trader, business manager or technologist.
Practical experience in data analysis
A broad understanding of Operational Risk issues.
A current understanding of Electronic Trading regulatory frameworks and market micro structure.
An understanding of Global regulatory trends and future requirements.
Project/Program Management background with a successful track record of delivering & maintaining effective solutions.
The ability to interact up and down the management hierarchy.
The ability to engage with the business and technology to drive clarity, compromise and conclusions
Drive and determination – high energy level, but dispassionate and independent
