Case Supervisor - Family Case Management Program

Reports to: Family Case Management (FCM) Program Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes

Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Family Case Management Program Manager, the Family Case Management Case Supervisor will supervise at least four Family Case Managers and one Case Aide to guide them in implementing the Family Case Management Program for Adults with Children. The program will work with families – primarily from Central America – who are released into the community with social supports as an alternative to immigration detention, and are enrolled into Family Case Management program to ensure that families are apprised of their rights and responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervise Family Case Managers and Case Aides and provide case oversight.

  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations; perform case supervision, review reports, and case notes.

  • Assist Program Manager to organize and implement procedures for staff to perform case management services from intake to case closure, including implementing protocols for conducting home visits, assessments, and follow up.

  • Assist staff to locate community resources to best serve clients with psychosocial, legal, medical, and educational services.

  • Work with Legal Immigration community partners to refer cases for legal orientation and representation.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00AM to 5:00PM Monday – Friday. Flexibility is required to meet contractual and programmatic obligations.

  •  Travel using public transportation or vehicle, traverse city streets, occasionally ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions.

  •  Approximately 60% of time requires computer work and sitting at a work station.


Education and/or experience required:

  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work or a related field.

  • At least two (2) years’ experience supervising casework and case managers.

  • At least two (2) years’ experience working with families and children in a social service setting.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

  • Bilingual: English and Spanish.

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License. Must successfully complete Agency’s Safe Driver requirement.

  • Ability to occasionally travel using public transportation and driving within the New York City, Long Island and the Lower Hudson Valley as required by contract.

  • Strong time management, organizational and analytical skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication.

  • Computer literate; ability to utilize the database systems to document service provision.
