As a solution manager responsible for social protection you will support the growth of SAP’s business in the area of social protection and public sector. Building strong subject matter and industry expertise. Being able to deliver enabling content, assets and thought leadership. Able to provide strong solution insights and being the bridge between global and local SAP teams. Overall supporting close customer engagement and solution adoption.


  1. Providing industry and subject matter expertise and advice for social protection, digital transformation and public sector in general; esp. for customers and partners.

  2. Creating relevant and impactful industry assets and other enablement content, connecting customer needs, business capabilities to SAP’s solution portfolio.

  3. Supporting public sector customers on their journey with SAP.

  4. Delivering enablement, thought leadership and market insights to account teams, partners and broader SAP ecosystem with high impact.

  5. Carrying our revenue enabling and go to market activities for SAP market units, regional and global teams.

  6. Building strong relationships and collaboration across SAP, to drive stronger solution adoption in areas such as cloud, industry solutions and platform tools adoption.


Within this broad experience framework, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated the following competencies: Substantial understanding of the public sector and social protection industry and its specifics are a prerequisite for the position; Serving as a public servant engaged in the solicitation, implementation and/or maintenance of enterprise software solutions; experience negotiating and administering software development contracts; experience in business process outsourcing and its specifics.

Furthermore the following qualifications are expected:

  • Industry Expertise & Experience: The ideal candidate will have 10 years’ experience of working in public sector and/or social protection. The candidate could have occupied a civil servant position within such agencies or played a leading role in working with such government organizations’ in solution management, solution engineering, project management or consulting. The ideal candidate will extend his/her contextual knowledge of the software, cloud and technology platform market in social protection space. As a strategic thinker he/she will understand market trends to ensure market share gains for SAP through the creation of unique value propositions against competitor offerings and unique solutions to existing and anticipated customer needs.

  • Results Orientation: Whilst this is revenue enabling not revenue generating role, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to meet ambitious performance benchmarks, driving for results with a positive impact on SAP’s image and position in public sector and social protection market. This person will be able to point to a pattern of continuously delivering success and value.

  • Influencing Skills: He/she must possess an expert presence, credibility and tenacity to successfully influence the broader SAP organization. Therefore, he/she will be someone who invests in building relationships with others and uses the informal structure and culture of an organization to get things done. This individual will bring people together across organizational boundaries to achieve results as a team and share best practices. This person will also demonstrate the personal flexibility to adapt and compromise when necessary, while actively contributing new innovative thinking to the broader organization.

  • Solution & Technology Expertise: The successful candidate will be both a thought leader and have a broad range of expertise in applications, technology and cloud solutions. Whilst not being expected to deliver deep technical content, the candidate will be able to connect customer needs with SAP’s portfolio in a structured and content rich way.

  • Customer Impact: The ideal candidate will leverage his/her knowledge of the customer’s perspective to anticipate requirements and to tailor competitive solutions within public sector and social protection market. He/she will have demonstrated the ability to establish strong relationships with customers, leading to a demonstrable track record of building trust, value and delivering growth in solution adoption and revenue.

  • Communication & Content Skills: The ideal candidate will be a consummate communicator and influencer. Proven to be highly effective in creating, delivering and communicating with SAP sales teams, partner organizations and customers. The candidate should be competent in the use of social media, be a strong facilitator, able to run, host and mediate customer workshops, enablement sessions and be the thought leader at dedicated events.

  • Language Skills: The candidate must have excellent English speaking skills. Second language is a plus.


The ideal candidate will have several years of experience positioning complex enterprise software and/or IT solutions to leading Public Sector Industry institutions. In addition, he/she will have direct experience supporting an effective sales process, organization and execution model covering standard products, custom software development and cloud, as well as building and leading a solution strategy inclusive of strategic partners.

The candidate must have the ability to identify, create and shape opportunities to drive growth, customer adoption and innovation within the public sector and social protection markets. The candidate must be able to develop strong and collaborative relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders and actors within the SAP ecosystem, being able to quickly gain credibility with key customer and industry contacts.

Personally, the successful candidate will be a self-motivator, be highly creative and tenacious, be agile and adaptive to fluid and dynamic circumstances.
