Job Title

Sr. Consultant, Program Management


Assists in defining the key elements necessary for successfully managing projects at MasterCard. Manage department project management staff by developing and utilizing established management processes in collaboration with stakeholders for the purpose of continuously reviewing, updating, and optimizing the set of responsible projects.


Major Accountabilities:

Responsible for planning, monitoring, executing and implementing projects. Assist in developing long-range plans and strategies to achieve business growth. Assist in departmental budget development, strategic direction, and approval of labor spend. Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to staff.

Establishes the annual calendars for releases

Facilitates release planning readiness: vision, backlogs and facilities

Facilitates release planning events

Assists with program execution and release feature completion tracking

Escalates impediments

Works with product management, product owners, and business owners to help assure strategy and execution alignment

Helps manage risk and dependencies

Encourages team and program level quality practices and Communities of Practice around Scrum and Agile program management

Experience leading programs in a SAFe environment

Participates in enterprise program management improvement and standardization activities

Ensure personnel have appropriate skills and behaviors, and effectively communicate performance review results. Responsible for staff hiring and termination decisions.

Provide advanced business knowledge and technical support for systems development. Work closely with project members and requesters identifying deliverables and functions throughout a project lifecycle. Ensure the project or effort is adequately staffed, trained and managed.

Manage effort within approved manpower and budget guidelines. Provide technical and advisory support for staff to ensure the development and implementation of applications. May participate in the definition and development of project requirements and analyze requirements to provide a recommended solution.

Ensure a successful delivery, which may include: development and management of overall project plan, schedule & budget adherence, status reporting, escalations, testing, user approval, final corrections, and methodology compliance.

Manage relationship with project team throughout GTO, which may include the project requesters. Provide senior management level status reports.

Log, track, and resolve project, business or release related issues. Coordinate multiple project efforts.

Demonstrate leadership qualities, display mentoring ability, project leadership and delegation, follow-through, and team participation skills.

All About You

Bachelor€™s degree required or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Demonstrated expertise in the areas of strategy, planning and project management required.

Extensive knowledge of MasterCard and the payments industry.

Knowledge of credit and debit card operations.

Strong analytical/problem solving and planning skills.

Advanced leadership, interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills required with a solid track record for developing internal and external relationships.

Demonstrated experience in managing staff and successful project delivery.

Extensive knowledge of project management processes and techniques.

Extensive experience with structured methodology and project planning tools.

Listening, oral, written and presentation skills and effective interpersonal skills.

Organizational and planning and multi-tasking skills.

Strong leadership, interpersonal, relationship-building and negotiation skills required with a solid track record for developing internal and external relationships.

Demonstrate individual and team trust.

Some travel may be required.
