BAE Systems Software Engineer, Programmer in Ogden, Utah
BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional individual with strong programming and software engineering expertise to support the Air Force's next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system acquisition. Our customer is the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program Office located at Hill AFB, north of Salt Lake City, Utah. Positions will be located at or near Hill AFB, Utah.
Specifically BAE Systems seeks a highly qualified Modeling & Simulation Developer / Software Engineer to support the development of a system level analysis, modeling and simulation tool. The applicant will be responsible for coordinating between and gathering information from subject matter experts in a wide variety of defense, engineering and non-engineering fields (e.g. missile flight, cyber security, communications, physical security, ground operations, power systems, system reliability, etc.). They must then translate the knowledge gained into quantitative and qualitative models that represent different aspects of the ICBM system. The applicant must also be capable of implementing these models within the framework of an existing systems modeling application (VB. Net experience preferred, though other .NET and OOP experience may qualify).
This position requires the applicant to be capable of learning quickly and operating well within a multi-disciplinary environment. They must be self-motivated and capable of blazing new paths in areas where opportunities for novel contributions are high, but uncertainty may also be high and clear direction is not yet fully established. Excellent organization, oral and presentation skills are also required as their products may have high visibility within the GBSD program as well as Air Force and DoD leadership. Due to the broad experience with the system that the applicant will gain in this position they may be relied upon for integration, leadership and discipline specific support at various levels within the GBSD program.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Twelve (12) years directly related experience (10 years with MS degree), BS/MS degree in Computer Science or comparable technical degree (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, etc.).
Analytical, computer programming, and engineering skills. Engineering analysis skills.
Self starter in learning new disciplines and collaborate/coordinate in a multi-disciplinary environment to develop quantitative and qualitative models.
Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering or equivalent complex software system efforts.
Experience in working with engineering analysis software.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
Preferred Skills and Education
Knowledge of ICBM analysis; Knowledge of DoD analysis.
Strong experience in C++, C#, Java, Matlab, Python, PowerShell, or similar OOP languages.
Desire to learn new analytical disciplines.
Expertise in .Net and application development. Experience developing high value Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs).
Experience working with Agile or similar software development methodologies.
Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering and implementing major server level applications is desired.
Solid understanding of operating system fundamentals, object oriented design, software test engineering principles, tools, techniques, and execution
Is able to work in a dynamic environment, in concert with customers and contractors, in order to mature preliminary concepts to an eventual contractor provided final system design.
Demonstrated capability to comprehend large scale system architecture.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to work with a wide array of stakeholders, including senior management, Air Force customers, contractors, technical staff and end users.
