Essential Function/Duties: *Receives requests for patient admission to The Children’s Hospital, patient internal transfers and notifications of discharges. *Communicates patient information to the physicians and nursing units for acceptance and patient bed assignment. *Coordinates patient transfers from outside facilities. *Assigns patient beds, as appropriate, and maintains list of pending admits. *Receives a physician’s order to admit, register or schedule a patient. *Reviews information for completeness and appropriateness of admissions, follows up with requestor to get complete information as needed. *Corresponds with internal and external customers to facilitate patient admission and placement. *Collaborates with other bed management staff to facilitate bed management goals.
*Maintains various reports and logs as needed. *Maintains and updates electronic bedboard. *Works for continuous improvement in customer service and processes. *Provides support to patient units to include ordering supplies and creating documents as directed. *Assists in training new employees as requested. *Performs other duties related to bed management.

Minimum Qualifications:
**Experience: Two (2) years of hospital or medical experience in admitting, patient registration/appointments, BedBoard or related area and achieve a score of 20 words per minute on typing test OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one (1) year of relevant college course work for each year of the required experience.
