United Illuminating Company Associate Analyst - Gas Engineering in Orange, Connecticut

UIL Holdings employs more than 1,900 people in the New England region. The Southern Connecticut Gas Company is looking for several exceptional individuals for the Orange, CT Location.
The Associate Analyst Gas Engineering will support Gas Company Engineering operations, including the preparation of new business and replacement piping designs. Perform analysis and re-design of meter sets to accommodate changing customer load requirements and will interpret site plans and provide sketches to work crews to facilitate installations of piping. This position will provide engineering guidance to other drafters and designers as needed to produce detailed engineering drawings of main installations and for large meter set fabrication and will recognize and communicate opportunities to combine new business installations with system improvement goals. The position will manage special gas engineering projects as required and will expand fundamental knowledge in own discipline and broaden skills; assist team members in expanding their knowledge and skills. This position will support and/or perform analyst functions/responsibilities within other groups of Meter Services as required and will independently identify and solve a range of problems from simple to moderate complexity utilizing analytical tools or other approved methods; analyze possible solutions and assess each using standard practices and procedures. The position will respond to standard and non-standard requests from customers and stakeholders; investigate events and take appropriate actions to alleviate issues; explain information and provide data to internal and external customers as well as prioritize and organize own time to meet deadlines and will apply team effectiveness skills; contribute to the achievement of team goals and will be responsible for technical contribution to a project/process team. Manage simple to moderately complex projects. The position will support testing and debugging of new systems as needed. Communicate with and/or negotiate with Engineering, Construction, Sales and Marketing and other company employees as necessary.
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in analytic discipline including, but not limited to: Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or Business and 2 years of experience, or Associate's Degree and 5 years of experience. Must have some CAD experience and be able to prepare and understand engineering drawings. Must have some experience with piping system layouts, metering and regulator principles. Maintain reports, update charts or graphs, complete tracking metrics and manage data in databases. Strong quantitative skills required along with a high attention to detail and accuracy in work. Must prepare cost estimates, make decisions, take corrective actions, and determine cost effective solutions to customer requirements with minimal supervision. Requires strong communication skills to write reports, present data, create presentations, and provide accurate, concise data via discussions, email or phone with both internal and external customers. Must be able to understand direction and apply personal efforts effectively. Past experience performing piping designs preferred.
