United Illuminating Company Associate Analyst - QA/QC Engineering Records in Orange, Connecticut

The Associate Analyst QA/QC Engineering Records will utilize analytical and technical abilities to analyze current engineering service records and help establish a work flow on organizing the records and capture additional attributes from these records. Understand and interpret requests for information and execute appropriate analysis to fulfill requests. Apply information and other evidence to draw independent conclusions, and make recommendations that support company objectives and recommendations. Execute and produce analyses, graphs, reports and customized responses to service requests. Independently manage daily assignments of simple to moderate complexity; complete tasks of simple to moderate complexity with minimal guidance of supervision or senior employees. Implement creative and effective approaches to problem solving, recommending process improvements as discovered. Contribute and support team members in a cross functional environment, taking on new tasks. Deliver presentations of results in a clear and effective manner to both internal and external personnel. Review and Catalog existing service records. Capture additional attributes to be added to current database. Link service records into company mapping system. Be able to interpret field sketches turned in by work crews. Provide reports of missing work orders and service/main records and schedule/direct actions to get correct records for the companies mapping system. Maintain record of active work orders. Manage special gas engineering projects as required. Expand fundamental knowledge in own discipline and broaden skills; assist team members in expanding their knowledge and skills. Independently identify and solve a range of problems from simple to moderate complexity utilizing analytical tools or other approved methods; analyze possible solutions and assess each using standard practices and procedures. Prioritize and organize own time to meet deadlines. Apply team effectiveness skills; contribute to the achievement of team goals. Will be responsible for technical contribution to a project/process team. Manage simple to moderately complex projects. Supports testing and debugging of new systems as needed. Communicate with and/or negotiate with Engineering, Construction, Sales and Marketing and other company employees as necessary.##
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in analytic discipline including, but not limited to: Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or Business and 2 years of experience, or Associate's Degree and 5 years of experience. Must be able to understand engineering and field as built drawings. Must have experience organizing paper and/or digital records and capturing attribute data. Must be able to perform query programming, data extraction, data cleansing and data analysis with analytical tools such as, SAP, ArcGIS, Autocad, Microstation, Access, Excel or other similar programs. Strong quantitative skills required along with a high attention to detail and accuracy in work. Must carefully read and interpret digital or paper records, make decisions, take corrective actions concerning issues with engineering records. Requires strong communication skills to write reports, present data, create presentations, and provide accurate, concise data via discussions, email or phone with both internal and external customers. Must be able to understand direction and apply personal efforts effectively. GIS/CAD and past utility experience preferred. Requires strong quantitative skills along with high attention to detail and accuracy in work. Requires strong written and oral communication skills.
