UPMC Capacity Management Coord in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

UPMC Presbyterian Hospital is currently recruiting a Capacity Management Coordinator. This position will provide administrative, technical and clerical support to the capacity management team allowing for safe and effective throughput of patients in and out of the facility. They will also be reviewing registrations/reservations for all incoming patients and paging the appropriate physician team on admission. This role will support capacity management and patient flow on both the UPMC Presbyterian and Shadyside campus'.

This position is rotating 12 and 8 hour shifts, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week including holidays.Responsibilities:

Act as a liaison between with Med Call to ensure timely transfer of patients. Adjust cancelled admissions by verifying changes with admitting, notifying the ANC/unit, and enters changes or cancellations into the Pre-Admit Tracking screen Answers, screens and routes incoming calls and messages. Assist with appropriate flow of admissions. Assist with patient placement and associated notifications. Assists in researching and drafting of routine reports. Coordinate with registration when any changes or updates are necessary. Demonstrates ability to operate and efficiently utilize all systems and office equipment. Ensure all fields are updated and pertinent in Pre-Admit Tracking and Medipac. Maintain customer confidence and protects the organization by keeping all information confidential Make effective decisions within the scope of delegated authority Participate in department and hospital activities to ensure a seamless environment for positive customer outcomes. This would include participation in interdepartmental activities, gaining necessary knowledge and skill to improve outcomes, and quality improvement initiatives to optimize hospital operations. Partner with AOD and monitor assign to occupy times of patients from ED, outlying facilities, physician offices, clinics and home to ensure that the goals of an efficient and seamless entry into the facility occurs Partner with capacity management team to coach/teach unit staff in use of bed board Provide technical support for pre-admit issues and training/development of bed board. Provides general clerical functions and maintains varied office files, logs, and records. Serve as a role model of excellent customer service by responding with courtesy and respect to the needs of all those he/she interacts with daily, and incorporating language that reflects the efforts to place all patients Support UPMC core values and guiding principles of Your Care. Qualifications

Completion of High School Graduate or Equivalent.

Experience with computer based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills.

Ability to use MS Suite products.

Two years experience in a customer service related role.

Medical terminology.

Strong critical thinking skills, multi-tasking ability and customer service skills.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.

Initiative to work productively with minimal supervision.

Basic reasoning skills.
