The Physician will provide Tele-Primary Care services virtually from an assigned duty station to patients at six John J. Pershing Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). Announcement will remain open until filled.

Poplar Bluff Missouri is located in southeast Missouri between St. Louis, Missouri, Memphis, Tennessee and Little Rock, Arkansas. Approximately 50,000 Veterans live in our service area with about 40 percent of them receiving care at our Medical Center annually. This non-affiliated medical center maintains contractual agreements for educational program providing clinical practice sites for various professional programs. This position serves as a primary care Physician at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. The Physician functions with other providers and is responsible for providing quality care, consultation, education, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Provides primary care in the outpatient clinic for a panel of adult and geriatric Veterans who have a wide spectrum of diagnoses. Participates in rotation for inpatient care weekend call. Provides urgent care, inpatient care/CLC coverage as needed. Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
Work Schedule:Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, though some evening or weekend shifts may be necessary.

In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:
Basic Requirements: Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. * Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or
Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Requirements: This position involves direct patient care. Exposure to surroundings which involve moderate risks or special precautions. Typically involves long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and positioning of patients, sitting and carrying items such as books, instruments, and other items.
