This is a time-limited TERM appointment not-to-exceed 2 years. Appointment may be extended an additional 2 years, for a total appointment of up to 4 years. Extension is not guaranteed and no promise of extension is implied. This position is a Construction Control Inspector for the Portland Area Indian Health Service, Office of Environmental Health and Engineering, Division of Sanitation Facilities Construction at the Port Angeles Field Office, Port Angeles, WA. The purpose of this position is to assist in the delivery of individual and community water supply, wastewater disposal and solid waste disposal facilities for Federally Recognized Tribes. This position reports to the Engineer located in Port Angeles, WA.

- Providing, reviewing, and inspecting of on-going construction work and in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Assist project engineer in gathering field data and drafting site plans.
- Assist project engineer and/ or engineer technician in performing surveys for project designs, constructions taking and as-builts.
- Occasional Travel
- Frequent travel to construction sites, overnight travel 1-3 days per month.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirements
Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above):
- Engineering aid or technician or surveying technician performing work directly related to construction.
- Construction inspector or construction representative responsible for interpreting plans and specifications, inspecting materials and workmanship, and insuring adherence to safety requirements.
- Supervisor of craftspersons, equipment operators, or mechanics engaged in construction work, provided that the experience involved responsibility for interpreting plans and specifications and inspecting workmanship for adherence to such plans and specifications.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-05: One (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level; OR, Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as: drafting, surveying, mathematics, physical science, industrial technology, industrial arts, or technical subjects pertinent to construction; or engineering technician work such as electricity, material testing, or engineering mechanics.
Specialized Experience: Engineering aid or technician or surveying technician performing work directly related to construction, performed under the direct supervision of an engineer or senior engineering technician or construction inspector.
For GS-6: One (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least a GS-5 grade level.
Specialized Experience: Engineering aid or technician or surveying technician performing work directly related to construction, performed under the guidance of an engineer or senior engineering technician or construction inspector.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
