Job Description Overview
The Business Analyst Associate will assist in the collection, analysis and reporting of business network related data in an ongoing effort to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of internal stakeholders. The Business Analyst Associate will assist in the creation and maintenance of standard and customized reports, conduct quantitative analysis and support data feeds / updates.
The Business Analyst Associate would be viewed as knowledgeable on the Ariba Network operational processes as well as have a solid understanding of various data sources available to support the diverse business requirements. This role would meet with the various internal stakeholders to develop an understanding of their needs and objectives to produce meaningful analyses which enables the stakeholders to make informed decisions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analytics / Reporting
Creates reporting and performs analyses in, but not limited to:
Demand and Capacity planning
Team Scorecards and Incentives
Buyer and Supplier activity
Probes facts, analyses issues and makes rational judgments based on relevant information
Tracks trends and prepares business presentations and reviews
Performs competitive research
Ad-hoc analyses as required
Process and Data Management Improvements
Proactively conducts interviews with business stakeholders and subject matter experts in order to understand their challenges and needs and supports identifying new needs not currently being addressed
As needed, utilize business process descriptions, use cases, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis.
Identifies where new reporting or improved data can provide opportunities for improvement in business operations and process
Proactively partners with leadership and business stakeholders to support optimizing business decisions and reach common goals
Education / Experience
Experience in an analytical role
A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel demonstrated through the ability to utilize advanced functionality, including (but not limited to) pivot tables, logical and statistical formulas, lookup and reference formulas.
INTERPRETING INFORMATION/ANALYSIS - Systematically investigating a problem to better understand a situation. Identifying and interpreting underlying trends, interrelationships and cause-effect relationships among seemingly unrelated pieces of data. Drawing logical inferences and making rational recommendations based on the application of inductive and deductive reasoning skills.
DRIVE FOR RESULTS – Has a “do whatever it takes” attitude towards challenges. Being flexible with changing priorities. Ability and willingness to multi-task, set priorities and work with minimal direction. Pro-active work ethic and strong initiative. Strong organizational and project management skills
PROBLEM SOLVING - Effectively resolving issues that involve people, things, and processes by using logic and common sense. Identifying the root cause of a problem as opposed to focusing on the symptoms. Generating unique solutions to problems rather than relying on what has been tried in the past.
COLLABORATION - Ability to influence and motivate other team members, and other parts of the Ariba organization toward a common goal. Works well in a cross functional team environment. Appropriately escalates issues within and across teams both within the European region and globally.
ORAL COMMUNICATION - Speaking in a clear voice and presenting thoughts, ideas, and concepts in a logical and easy to understand manner. Expressing complicated or highly technical thoughts, expectations, ideas and intent effectively and concisely. Ability to present to senior leadership.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL - Taking great care to ensure all aspects of work are completed correctly, developing effective methods for tracking specifics, and checking the quality of one’s work in order to ensure accuracy. Identifying mistakes and correcting them before they cause major problems.
