Account Leader


The Travel Vertical team in US Market Development seeks to advance commerce and strengthen relationships with key travel merchants, while driving value for MasterCard and our customers through developing and articulating MasterCard€™s value proposition for merchants in the verticals.

This individual will take on responsibility for heading key strategic initiatives and enhancing MasterCard€™s standing in travel industry. Leading a team of account managers, this individual is responsible for managing travel merchant relationships and working with senior and C-level executives to build strong partnerships and deliver customized solutions that deliver bottom line results to the customer and support MasterCard€™s financial and strategic objectives.


Identify and develop new opportunities with key travel merchants and drive sales of MasterCard products and services into key accounts through individual account management and leading a team of key account managers

Develop new business opportunities/ sales pipeline leveraging full suite of MasterCard products and solutions, including co-brands, prepaid and commercial products, MasterPass, Advisors€™ services and other MasterCard products service innovations or enhancements

Provide superior strategic account management driven by robust account planning, thorough understanding of payment economics, and adherence to Value Driver Selling process and principles

Manage multiple, complex and strategic relationships and ensure strong alignment across MasterCard

Cultivate effective senior level relationships with the customer to ensure MasterCard maintains a preferred and trusted partner status.

Work with MasterCard cross functional teams to identify new segment and product opportunities and develop/ execute bespoke propositions to maximize penetration with travel clients/ industry

All About You

Significant knowledge of the Travel vertical, merchant motivations, market dynamics, and business development opportunities is critical for success in this role. Individual must be able to identify and address related operational topics.

Direct travel industry experience is highly desirable.

Strategic/consultative selling to large, complex, non-financial institutions

Knowledge of payments industry, understanding of competitive landscape and industry trends with a focus on digital and mobile technologies, a plus

Knowledge of products, services and solutions within the payments business and ability to identify and address operational challenges

Strong problem solving skills with an ability to identify key issues, structure analysis and solid business cases and provide recommendations effectively

Senior level presentation and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to all levels within the organization

Strong leadership skills and ability to lead and develop a team of industry professionals

Travel up to 50% may be required
