As market leader in enterprise application software, SAP helps companies of all sizes and industries innovate through simplification. From the back office to the boardroom, warehouse to storefront, on premise to cloud, desktop to mobile device – SAP empowers people and organizations to work together more efficiently and use business insight more effectively to stay ahead of the competition. SAP applications and services enable customers to operate profitably, adapt continuously, and grow sustainably.
The User Experience Platform (UXP) Product Management group is a global team with experienced professionals spread across the world. It is responsible for outbound product management of SAP’s User Experience technology foundation – Mobile, Portal, UI and Fiori. The group is in charge of roll-out to customers, partners, and stakeholders as well as field enablement and Go-to-market planning and execution. In addition, it is heavily involved in roll-in of requirements back to the development/product team, Market Research, Partner Management, Pre/Post sale support and business development around our portfolio.
A product manager in the UXP PM team is accountable for enabling our customers to succeed using our products. This is achieved by creating a body of knowledge on our products, their business value to the customer and the relevant assets enabling customers to adopt them.
Our PM activities are usually part of a bigger story (Fiori, HCP, Mobile) where the product manager will have to work as part of global virtual teams to ensure that our products are represented in all relevant channels and scenarios.
The product manager is in charge of creating high quality assets within his/her area and be able to present these assets and knowledge to customers remotely, on site and as part of conferences and workshops.
The product manager is able to synthesize requirements coming in from customers, stakeholders and partners and present these in an organized and generalized manner to the relevant Product Owner. This should turn the product manager to the “trusted advisor” of the product owner, supporting him/her in prioritizing based on the above data.
The product manager should be up to date on market trends in our area and market feedback for our products (Social Media, Analysts, Blogs, etc.)
A product manager’s job is an exercise in “influence without authority” – the ability to generate consensus with the Product Owner, Engineering and other colleagues outside the team.
