- Assigns work to be accomplished by subordinates for a 24-hour period. Assists with nursing staff schedule by working with the Director of Nursing (DON) or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON).
- Works with DON and the medical staff in carrying out the goals and mission of the Agency and Indian Health Service.
- Assists in planning, implementing and coordination of carrying out the nursing educational activities that directly and indirectly affect the patient care outcomes.
Clinical Nursing Duties:
- Pre-ops patients, by reviewing medical record for approximately signed surgical consents, reviews H/P and laboratory work, provides IV therapy and provides pre-operative medication as ordered.
- Ability to oversee/assist surgeon in a clinical setting with minor procedures.

- Relocation expenses will be authorized and will be paid. You will be required to sign a one year service agreement. Failure to fulfill the one year service agreement may result in repayment of relocation expenses.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. (one year nursing experience as a military corpsman that has been accepted by a State licensing body may be accepted in lieu of education at the GS-4 level.
Registration: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. An applicant may be appointed pending State registration as a professional nurse within 6 months of appointment. No person appointed pending registration may be retained beyond 6 months, or promoted, if registration has not been attained. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level.
Specialized Experience: Knowledge and Experience with assigning, coordinating and supervising nursing and support staff. Knowledge of developing nursing care plans. Experience with reviewing and revising nursing unit policies and procedures. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which annual leave is earned. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week with rotating shifts including evening, nights, weekends, and holidays. Position is authorized for stand by pay.
