Xenex Electrical Engineer I in San Antonio, Texas

OVERVIEW: This position is best suited for a junior electrical engineer who desires a fast-paced, hands-on role. You will work with a small team reporting into the Director of Engineering, brainstorming and assisting in the conceptual design of electrical layouts of key components in our germ-zapping robots. You will apply your knowledge and skills to help design electrical systems and learn, discover, and experience many electrical components.

RESPONSIBILITIES: • PCB design and debug • Design and debug of microcontroller systems • Prototyping circuits and software that control the operation of the Xenex unit. • Design at the System level (AC wiring, electrical subsystem interconnect, etc..) • Design and debug using embedded wireless RF subsystems. • Moderate level software development and debug using C and Java. • Create and update test procedures to functionally test new software and hardware releases. • Troubleshoot failed devices and recommend design changes necessary to increase the reliability and durability of units. • Provide design specifications to outside vendors and contractors to create, test, and manufacture subsystems • Interface with suppliers of electronic components that are sourced within Xenex products .

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • BS in Electrical Engineering. MS preferred. ◦ GPA 3.5+ (must be able to provide transcripts)

• 0-3 years of experience • Electrical Design Experience ◦ Some PCB-level circuit design and embedded systems design ◦ Prototyping electronic circuit boards and IC’s ◦ Some Programming experience with C or C++ ◦ Scripting experience with PERL, Python, Ruby, or similar

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Basic Product Development process experience a plus ◦ Design for robust manufacturing ◦ Design for reliability and redundancy ◦ Understanding end customer usage behaviors

• Ability to interface effectively with vendors and outside suppliers • Startup company experience is a plus
