- General Statement of Duties: *
The Trauma Program Manager is a professional nurse possessing in-depth knowledge and experience to meet the needs of the trauma patients. The Trauma Program Manager will work closely with the medical staff, administration, department heads, ancillary staff, and nursing personnel, to coordinate all aspects of trauma care. The Trauma Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the trauma services for Methodist Healthcare are in constant compliance with JCAHO and state regulations appropriate for the level of trauma designation maintained in the various facilities. The Trauma Program Manager will assist the System Director for Trauma and Emergency Management in following all Texas Department of State Health Services guidelines and requirements for trauma designation.
Essential Job Functions: *1. Responsible for maintaining the Methodist Healthcare System Trauma Registry and Trauma PI Program in compliance with all requirements of the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), as outlined in the State Trauma Rules. Works closely with the System Director of Trauma and Emergency Management, Trauma Medical Director, medical staff, administration, department heads, ancillary and nursing personnel to assist with coordination of the Methodist Healthcare System trauma program. 2. Audits charts for performance improvement indicators and overall patient care and promptly reports an identified problems or significant issues to the System Director or Trauma and Emergency Management/Trauma Medical Director. 3. Responsible for utilizing the Trauma Registry to produce reports and statistical data as requested by the Texas Department of State Health Services, System Director of Trauma and Emergency Management, Trauma Medical Director, or other Methodist Healthcare System personnel involved in the care of trauma patients. 4. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with other departments to facilitate and support quality trauma care, including attendance at required meetings and in-services related trauma. Provides clinical expertise in communication with medical and hospital staff. 5. Responsible for maintaining a broad knowledge base of the Emergency Management Plan and goals, and is able to assist with essential responsibilities in the absence of the System Director for Trauma and Emergency Management.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Trauma Nursing Core Course or Advanced Trauma Life Support Course preferred.
Experience: At least three years of recent full-time hospital nursing experience in critical care or emergency nursing is preferred.
Minimum License and Certificates Required: Must possess a current license from the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas to practice professional nursing.
