Network Engineer


• This role will be part of the Network and Telecommunications team, based in San Francisco or Sunnyvale CA. • The position will report to the Director of Networking and Communications as a contractor. • The position will address standardization and compliance to the enterprise and data center network for company worldwide.

Role Specifics:

• Maintain optimal IT/Engineering infrastructure standards and designs involving the network, LAN/WAN/Wifi/VPN/Security • Apply infrastructure, architecture and technology road maps to align environment to standard levels • Based on network designs, solutions and policy standards work with other team members and engineering groups • Address Tickets that come into the team in a timely, professional, and high quality manner • Respond to on-call issues during U.S. business hours • Design with an automation mindset, using best practices for config, patch, change management, availability management, facility management (IT components), and IT continuity management • Work with PMO, SECOPS, Strategy/Architecture and NOC internal customers to complete inputs for the fulfillment of Key Performance Indicators • Communicate the feasibility of requested deliverables and timelines to internal Business and Project Stakeholders

Required Skills/Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of core Networking experience, or CCIE written level equivalent • Experience with a variety of hardware (Juniper, Brocade, not just Cisco) • Expert in diagnosing and solving complex problems and providing detailed technical analysis • Excellent interpersonal, consultative, coaching, communication, and negotiation skills including excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain security concepts to a diverse stakeholder base • Broad business and technical knowledge/background of multiple technology areas, including but not limited to: networking, data center, security, and video • Working knowledge of security principles, best practices, architectures, tools and processes • Ability to translate technical information into formats for a variety of internal or external audiences not well versed in the details of the technology; ability to translate complex network topics into business-level meaning and terms • Ability to understand legal and regulatory requirements and business drivers and priorities
