About the Role:

We are looking for a passionate marketing and communications manager to help drive customer communications for the SAP Product Support organization. Our Communications Manager will be responsible for crafting and executing a PR communications strategy, and helping execute on other value add communications programs, for a technical support organization for one of the largest and most influential technology companies in the world. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to define, build and manage an industry leading PR marketing program. You will be a strategic partner for the organization as it works to communicate experience transforming changes to the customer experience, driving awareness, adoption and positive perception.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help create and maintain a story pipeline that strengthens SAP Product Support’s public profile with regard to business strategy, innovation and thought leadership

  • Develop programs to drive awareness and perception of SAP Product Support for key issues such as strategy, tooling changes, improvements, customer focus, and vision. Develop and execute an annual media plan

  • Develop new media channels and engagement models with key editors to help drive share of voice and favorability within the existing customer base

  • Drive creation of a publicly accessible showcase of SAP Product Support innovations and improvements

  • Drive and craft submissions for industry awards, establishing timelines and deliverables

  • Build and maintain a network of trusted relationships with relevant members of the media, blogger communities, user groups, and industry analysts either directly or in partnership with SAP Global Communications team.

  • Channel direct feedback from customers, the media and bloggers back into Product Support

  • Help execute on value-add and other communications run by the Communications team of Product Support, that focus on value-add content, plus announcements, enablement in new tools and services, etc.

Provide thought leadership and functional expertise on the following core tasks:

  • Manage market research to build understanding of user expectations

  • Lead the translation of user expectations into actionable marketing strategies

  • Supervise and manage relationship with SAP Marketing agencies where applicable

  • Coordinate with stakeholders across the company to ensure effectiveness

  • Manage communications campaigns, and all day-to-day activities. Duties include online advocacy, writing editorials, community-outreach efforts, use of RSS feeds for timely service updates, management of email newsletters and campaigns, etc

  • Partner with the Social Media team to become to promote the SAP Product Support storyline in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate

  • Create and maintain assets highlighting key messages and improvements

You have a demonstrated ability to interact with and cooperate across different functional organizations and a track record of applying strong marketing and PR expertise to exponentially increase or improve awareness, engagement and perception. You are a proactive learner and creative problem solver who enjoys being in a fast-paced environment and enjoy interactions that lead to ultimate customer success and satisfaction. You have exceptionally strong project-management, marketing and social media skills, experience with delivery of communications on behalf of service based organizations, and you have supported the marketing of technology applications. You strive to exceed customer expectations.


  • Strong project management or organizational skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, RSS feeds, Blogs etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios

  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships

  • Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when necessary

  • Have a good knowledge of principles of how to drive awareness, engagement, and perception

  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment

  • Comfortable interacting with all levels of management within the organization

  • Enthusiasm, strong work ethic and a positive attitude

Education and Experience:

  • A 4-year degree and 7 years of demonstrated marketing and communications experience

  • An understanding of enterprise software, both on premise and ASP (“on-demand”, SaaS)
