Bayer Animal Health Pharmaceuticals Research and Development Formulation Manager in Shawnee Mission, Kansas

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, as an Animal Health Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Research and Development Formulation Manager, are to:

• Serves as manager and technical leader for US R&D formulation development group as well as the R&D pilot plant facility, responsible for formulation, lab scale development, process and product development, optimization and scale-up projects; • Actively monitors current industry trends and practices, including development activities at Bayer Animal Health and 3rd party organizations to stay abreast of formulation, new drug delivery system, and process and product knowledge; • Collaborates effectively with formulation development group, Monheim, Germany and other CIDs of Animal Health in formulation, process and product development and transfer activities. • Prepares and manages multiple project budgets and Capital budgets for formulation development and pilot plant operations; • Provide product stewardship through the optimization of product formulations, process and technical performance in cooperation with US Bayer Animal Health Product Supply (PS) group. • Represents Animal Health business unit as a team member of multi- divisional projects and maintains a network for reporting and gathering information with other Bayer sites; • Serves as project leader for teams consisting of QA, QC, Validation, Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Production, R&D, and Supply Chain charged with projects pertaining to formulation and process development; formulation and process scale-up and optimization and technology transfer. Coordinates team initiatives to introduce changes in formulations/processes/products; • Represents Bayer and industry groups in discussions and meetings with regulatory agencies to influence best industry practices and scientific position in improving animal pharmaceutical product development and regulations.

• This position requires a PhD in Pharmaceutics or Pharmaceutical Sciences or related scientific field preferably with a Post-doctoral experience in Formulation Development/Drug Delivery and 6 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with emphasis in Pharmaceutical Formulation and Technology and 10+ years of relevant experience; • Expertise in pharmaceutical development, specifically formulation, novel drug delivery systems, process and product development experience is required; • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential; • The incumbent must have good social skills, leadership skills and a demonstrated understanding of financial impact of product performance in a pharmaceutical environment; • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in supervising and/or serving as team leader with R&D teams/departments; • Experiences that demonstrate the following Key Competencies: • Drives Results • Collaboration • Builds Effective Teams • Plans and Aligns • Drives Vision and Purpose
