Sr. Group Manager, Infrastructure Operations->> Manages multiple teams and oversees complex infrastructure projects, often global in scope. Oversees the requirements, planning, organizing, and implementation of enterprise-wide technology infrastructure. Develops, maintains, and implements the procedures and the execution covering all configuration issues in a full software lifecycle.Develops and implements strategic processes for implementation and maintenance activities for computer system software and configurations. Contributes to developing strategy for implementing and integrating middleware software in a multi-tiered, multi-platform environment, dealing with development projects that have a broad impact across the organization. Provides senior-level consulting in identifying and solving highly-critical middleware issues and serves as a senior-level resource on middleware issues related to policies and standards that impact middleware specialist and application support staffs across the corporation. Implements projects consistent with long-term IT plans. Assists with the coordination of activities with other IT unit heads. Establishes and ensures compliance with policies and procedures for activities within Infrastructure Operations. Evaluates current methods and strategies, and implements changes and improvements. Reports results to the Sr. Group Manager.Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. Manages multiple infrastructure operations teams. Contributes to the achievement of multiple teams' objectives.

This individual should understand today’s web, mobile, and application delivery platforms, keep up with the pace of technology change, and Cloud architectures.

She/He will Lead a fast-paced, Operational Support team that is responsible for supporting BNY Mellon’s Cloud Technology which has been branded as BNY Mellon eXetreme platform (BXP). . Candidate will be challenged with identifying innovative support models that align to Cloud and DevOps Initial core focus is on the supporting the existing BXP Private Cloud which host 15K VMs with the core IaaS technology being VMWare, HP Hardware, NAS and Cisco Network. Future BXP Roadmap consist of the following technologies, but is not limited to, MESOS, Docker Containers, born of cloud apps and moving toward Hybrid Clouds leveraging providers like AWS and Azure.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Continuously improve operations processes, develop and present best practices, technical concepts and technologies for innovative Cloud solutions. Evolving Support Model, Practices and Audit Controls to align with DevOps and Hybrid Cloud are key aspects.

  • Recruit, manage, train, and mentor Advisory staff and adhere to professional practice requirements

  • Operational and Support responsibilities of BNYM BXP IaaS Cloud. Incident Management (Break/Fix) of IaaS incidents. Capacity Management oversight to ensure BXP IaaS remains resilient and stable. Ensuring Compute, Network & Storage resources are always available to stay ahead of growth pattern and application on boarding pipeline is key aspect to ensure availability.

  • Ownership of the Cloud Lifecycle Management Platform (CLM) from run and maintenance aspect. This includes, but is not limited, bug fixes, version upgrades, end-user support of internal BNYM Developers using the platform, Support incident with PaaS team

  • Change Management responsibilities of Cloud IaaS and Cloud Lifecycle Management Platform (CLM). Cloud Support team overseeing executes hands-on changes. Ensure Change Control records are managed in-line with Process KPIs

  • Responsible for maintaining and executing Cloud Disaster Recovery of the Cloud Lifecycle Management Platform (CLM)


  • Candidate must have minimum 10+ years’ experience in Distributed Technology Infrastructure with high transaction processing environments

  • Good understanding of various virtualization – Hyper-V, vSphere, KVM, cloud management technologies and tools as well as various cloud delivery models

  • Demonstrate extensive Operational and Support experience with strong ITIL alignment Good Practices (i.e. Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Capacity Management, Release Management, Service Level Management)

  • Extensive experience working with Global Support Model

  • Experience with elastically scalable, fault tolerance and other cloud architecture patterns. Working knowledge of AWS and Azure is a plus

  • Experience migrating legacy applications to a service oriented, cloud optimized architecture within a large IT shop

  • Demonstrable expert level knowledge of current Cloud technologies

  • Relevant hands-on experience with Cloud IaaS technologies. PaaS experience is plus.

  • Good understanding of various private, public, and hybrid cloud platform, continuous integration or delivery as a service, DevOps and distributed computing

  • Experience with OpenStack, OpenShift, AWS, Azure, CloudFoundry, Docker and other container/PaaS technologies is a strong plus

  • Strong leadership, planning, execution, presentation, negotiation and multi-tasking skills--must be able to lead, review and execute multiple strategic project

  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills for various audiences, both business and technical

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred 10+ years of experience in infrastructure operations required with related supervisory, management and administrative experience, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
