Incentive Bonus Available
Assists in the provision of direct patient care, under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse throughout the patient’s surgical procedure.
Adequately prepares for and anticipates needs of cases by ensuring needed equipment/supplies are available in OR room.
Verifies operative procedure with all room staff during pre-operative “time-out”.
Creates and maintains a sterile field.
Properly and safely passes instruments onto and within the sterile field.
Effectively performs sponge, sharps, and instrument counts.
Demonstrates technical skills necessary to function as a Surgical Technologist. Assumes responsibility for continuing growth and development related to their patient care duties.
Recognizes safety needs of patients and co-workers in the OR and responds accordingly. Promotes an environment supportive of cost-effective quality patient care.
Recognizes life threatening/emergency situation and responds quickly. Demonstrates behavior that supports and maintains established policies and procedures.
Demonstrates effective, concise and appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication. Demonstrates techniques for providing a personalized, open and caring atmosphere.
Follows department guidelines for picking cases and filling orders as needed.
Responds to the department needs related to equipment and supplies.
Coordinates special supply needs with the specialty supervisors as needed.
Effectively performs tasks related to.
Demonstrates consistent, appropriate work habits and demeanor which contribute to the effective functioning of the department and institution.
Observes universal precautions consistently and wears proper personal protective equipment when appropriate.
Wears clothing and Health System badge consistent with dress code, and attends to personal hygiene to
maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance.

Education: Successful completion of a recognized Surgical Technologist course and/or possesses a significant amount of Surgical Technologist experience in a hospital setting.
Experience: Significant amount of Surgical Technologist experience in a hospital setting.
Certifications: Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within their probation period.
Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency of the week, or work frequency according to patient requirements. Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Stand and walk most of the time on duty. Lift/ push patients on stretchers. Lift/Push equipment and instrument sets. Must have good working knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, sets, and equipment. Work with contaminated instruments and equipment. Requires strict adherence to Universal Precautions. Must be able to work in fast-paced environment with occasional high-stress situations. Will be required to work “on call” shifts. Equipment Used: as above.
