Catalent Pharma Solutions Manager, Human Resources in St Petersburg, Florida
I. Overview The Human Resource Department is responsible for the recruitment of, management of, and providing direction for the people who work in the organization through effective policies, procedures, guidelines and support. Human Resource Management is the organizational function that deals with issues related to people such as compensation, hiring, performance management, organization development, safety, wellness, benefits, employee motivation, communication, administration, and training.
II. Basic Function: This Human Resource position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and administration of policies and programs for staffing, employee relations, compensation and benefits, employee development and training, organizational development, regulatory compliance to meet the business strategies and customer requirements of Oral Technologies, St. Petersburg, Florida within the framework of Catalent’s overall corporate philosophy and policies, external laws and regulations.
III. Specific Activities, and Responsibilities: * Develops and directs the establishment and maintenance of policies, procedures, plans and programs dealing with the specific activities of staffing, employee relations, compensation and benefits, employee development and training, organizational development, HR information systems to meet the site’s business plan and competitive strategy in a cost effective manner * Ensures alignment of such policies, procedures, plans, programs and budgets with those of Catalent Pharma Solutions * Partners with St. Petersburg-based leadership in the organization’s strategic planning efforts, providing insight on vital HR concerns and ensuring alignment with overall business objectives * Provides counsel to managers and employees on human resources issues, organization structure and development * Establishes and maintains an effective and credible relationship with both management and employees; works closely with line management to provide support, planning and problem solving * Plans and directs the organization’s recruitment, selection and placement of talent with the critical technical and management skills required to ensure the continuity of operations, and leadership bench strength development * Develops, implements and administers an effective performance management system aimed at improving employee and organizational productivity * Develops training and development plans to meet regulatory compliance while focusing on building the critical skills and competencies required to handle present and future jobs more effectively * Ensures implementation and administration of succession planning program * In partnership with Catalent Compensation, implements and administers fair and equitable reward systems that meet the strategic and competitive demands of the business * Develops and implements plans to introduce and manage cultural change within the organization to improve organizational effectiveness; ensures that organizational strategies, structure and processes are consistent with evolving business needs * Assures compliance with laws and regulations related to employees and their relationship with their employer. Completes appropriate agency (EEOC, DOL, WCI) audits. * Comply with and ensure the group’s compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental responsibilities * Manages, and mentors HR Generalist and Sr. HR Coordinator * Develop and manage the department budget * Develop and mentor HR Generalist as backstop * Other duties as assigned.
IV. Job Requirements Education and Experience: * Undergraduate degree required; advance degree preferred * PHR or SPHR certification preferred * Minimum 7 years broad and progressive experience in human resources with 3 years in a management role within organizations with progressive HR systems and processes. * Exposure to the pharmaceutical healthcare or related technical industries preferred. * Experience supporting a manufacturing environment (24x7 with 3/2/2 scheduling) is required.
Knowledge/Skills Requirements: * Expert knowledge in HR management concepts with a strong consultative, but results oriented approach. * Demonstrated success in collaboration with others and independent thought. * Has understanding of pharmaceutical industry and contract services business issues and trends. * Analytical ability, both interpersonal and issue-related; good judgment and ethics; professional presence and demeanor; strong interpersonal skills and political savvy. * Strong business acumen. * Excellent negotiation and contracting skills. Ability to “get the job done” and take responsibility for results without direct authority. Ability to coordinate, facilitate and organize resources. * Ability to develop strategic relationships; strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent presentation skills, adaptable to the level of audience. * Superior customer service orientation with strong follow-up skills and attention to detail. * Willingness to travel. * Advanced PC skills, knowledge of company specific software packages. * Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak clear English. * Supervises: One Human Resources Generalist, and one Sr. Human Resources Coordinator
Physical/Mental Requirements: * Sit and work with computer for up to 8 hours per day * Mathematical and reasoning ability * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. * Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. * Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen, talking, writing, listening * Creative thinker with sound business judgment. Good negotiation and reasoning skills. * Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to easily learn and retain technical information. * Well-honed problem solving skills, including innovative and creative solutions. * Well organized with ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously. * Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds. * Be accessible to laboratory and pilot plant area(s) and office staff and to use required office equipment. * Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and frequent use of computer monitor.
Business Environment: * Individual’s primary workstation is located in the office area, where the noise level is low. Employee will be present on the laboratory and manufacturing floor where the noise level is moderate to loud. * To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
