Purpose of the Position
Perform designs and analysis of new facility systems and/or modifications to existing site/facility systems.
Responsible for leading the electrical engineering and design aspects of projects and also working with our current team in developing man-hour estimates, applying electrical standards, and mentoring junior engineers and designers.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities of the Position
Assists in the development of electrical designs for construction of new or modification to existing facilities.
Develops design proposals, including design cost and schedule, for customer approval.
Monitors and reports on the status of all current design projects
Prepare plans and specifications for construction packages using design software and in conjunction with other project team members.
Develop estimated cost of construction for completed designs.
Responsible for reviewing/checking the designs, specifications, and costs estimates of electrical engineers that are part of our current team.
Assists in the review of vendor/contractor submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs) to bring product design from engineering phase to completed construction.
Develops Field Change Request (FCR) documents as required for completed design projects during the construction phase.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university
5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering
Experience in performing load flow, short circuit, coordination and arc-flash studies using SKM software.
Experience with designing overhead and underground medium voltage distribution systems.
Experience in leading/managing other engineering professionals (on a project level or in a permanent capacity).
Experience with designing electrical systems in hazardous classified area.
PE or EIT preferred
Working knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E.
Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.

Prior knowledge of NASA site, experienced with working on government installations preferred.
Experience with AutoCAD (or Creo Parametric), PTC Windchill and SKM
USGBC LEED AP (or greater) certification and/or a working knowledge of the Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Office products.
Ability to present to large groups.
- Dexterity to operate office equipment, and ability to access field locations as required by the position.
