The James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital and Clinics (JAVH and Clinics) is recruiting for Fulltime Physicians that are well versed in Internal Medicine or Family Practice (Board Certified in Internal Medicine is preferred) and must possess fluency in the English Language to provide Primary Care in the Tampa and Community Outpatient Clinics(Brooksville, Lakeland and Zephyrhills). The Primary Care clinic serves 70,000 unique veterans and employs 65 PACT Team-lets.
The Physician in Ambulatory Care Service will be responsible for providing primary care for veterans with diverse medical conditions. This physician is expected to have expertise in Internal Medicine. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Assure the most effective delivery of care in general internal medicine, while meeting and exceeding compliance standards.
Provide consultation, evaluation and treatment to manage various conditions, illnesses, and injuries; conduct daily clinic administration.
Answer outpatient consultations.
Make referrals, recommendations for treatment and/or medication and follow care of veteran patients experiencing internal problems.
Oversee the administration of medications to patients for whom therapy is indicated. Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff.
Work Schedule: *Includes an 8-hour shift within the hours of 7:00am to 5:30pm, Monday-Friday. Also includes a Saturday shift from 8:00am-Noon *Functional Statement Title/#: Physician - Primary Care

- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Physical requirements outlined below. Preferred Experience: Board certification in Internal Medicine.

Physical Requirements: The Physical requirements of this position include the following tasks which may be performed intermittently: lifting of up to 10 lbs., sitting (4 hours), standing (2 hours), walking (2 hours), bending/stooping (1 hour), twisting (1/2hour), simple grasping (4 hours), fine manipulation (6 hours), reaching above the shoulder (1/2 hour), and operating machinery (1/2 hour).
