The primary objective of this position is to drive cost improvements in our distribution operations through improved methods, systems and process in the physical distribution of our products. Engineers manage the design and implementation of Labor Management Systems. In addition, this Engineer will be involved in material handling and construction related projects from a few hundred thousand dollars to 70 million dollars. We are looking for bright individuals with strong work ethic that possess the creative, analytical, and project management skills to help our company operate more effectively and to execute our business initiatives.


Other duties may be assigned. A teammate in this position must have the ability to:

  • Support miscellaneous department and distribution center special projects.

  • Develop and implement efficient distribution and order fulfillment processes to support business needs.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain McLane's Labor Management System.

  • Create efficient layouts, workstations, and material handling systems for existing and expanded facilities, etc.

  • Ensure projects are implemented on time, under budget and achieve stated performance objectives.


A teammate in this position must:

  • Have a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering preferred, other related degrees with applicable experience will be considered.

  • Have experience with rack and conveyor applications and conveyor sortation experience.

  • Have knowledge of labor standards development.

  • Understand distribution center operations including receiving, selection, replenishment and dispatch.

  • Posses excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Be able to function in a fast paced office environment in a professional manner.

  • Have proven advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Project.

  • Have 2-5 years of industrial engineering work experience is preferred.


  • Office environment.

  • This position is expected to travel up to 40%.
