Registered Nurse (RN) Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit - Full Time Nights - 36 hour per week, 7p to 7:30a ($5k Sign-On)

We are looking for compassionate and skilled nursing professionals to join our IMC team working Night Shift – 7p to 7:30a for three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hrs per week) and rotating weekends. Our Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit consists of 16-beds where we offer exceptional care for critically ill patients including those who have had Open Heart surgery, Myocardial Infarction, Hypertensive/Hypotensive, Arrhythmia and those who need Arterial Line Monitoring.

Position summary: The IMC RN manages the nursing care of critically ill patients in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

  • Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.

  • Carries out physician orders.

  • Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.

  • Provides respiratory and ventilator management and monitoring for patients.

  • Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.

  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.

  • Instructs and educates patients and families.

  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

  • Provides age and culturally appropriate care.

  • Orients and mentors new staff members.

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required

  • Attend Code of Conduct training course annually

  • Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to HCA’s Code of Conduct

  • Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates)

    Essential educational/licensure, skills and experience:

  • Current Indiana RN licensure.

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider.

  • ACLS, and NIHSS certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire date. Certification must be maintained throughout employment with Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

  • TCAT course completion within 12 months of hire date.

  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.

  • Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
