In addition to our main facility in Tomah, we offer services in four community-based outpatient clinics. These clinics are located in LaCrosse, Clark County, Wausau, and Wisconsin Rapids. VAMC Tomah is one of seven facilities that comprise Veterans Integrated Services Network 12 (VISN12) which is administratively headquartered at Hines, IL, and includes facilities in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking the services of one (1) Board Certified/Board Eligible physician in Dermatology to work at the VA Medical Center, 500 East Veterans Street, Tomah, WI. This position is to provide Dermatology care at the Tomah VAMC. Services will be scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, unless otherwise arranged. The clinic hours of operation at the VA Medical Center Tomah are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a ½ hour lunch break that is unpaid. Federal holidays are excluded from normal clinic hours of operation. The Dermatologist will be granted clinical privileges for the VA based on his/her specific expertise. Work will commence immediately upon completion of credentialing and privileging, as well as, orientation.
This provider will support direct patient care needs at VAMC Tomah and outreach clinics. The Dermatologist will be required to work cooperatively with other physicians, advanced practice nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, and a variety of allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive health care services to adult patients.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The physician will follow and meet all medical center policies, rules and regulations.
The physician is required to be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and to maintain the certification during their work at the medical center.
Function as a full team member of the interdisciplinary team serving patients at the VA facility. Assure health prevention and customer disease prevention practices are fully implemented for assigned patients. Assist the medical center in meeting all wait time performance measures.
An outpatient progress note or response to consult must be completed for each episode of care.
Initiate and facilitate treatment and transfer in emergency situations.
Follow-up office visits for existing dermatology problems and appropriate diagnostic tests and medication adjustments.
Referral of patients as needed to appropriate specialists and health care facilities.
Document assessments (plan of care and outcomes) for each patient in accordance with policies and procedures in a timely manner.
Act as a consultant in clinical practice.
Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure continuity of patient care.
Collaborate and act as a patient advocate.
Maintain knowledge of new and current clinical methods.
Complete medical record documentation using the computerized Patient Record System and available templates to assist in the process. No dictation system will be used to meet this requirement.

- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Physical Requirements: Walking, bending, stooping, and some lifting in the direct care of patients. There may also be extended periods of sitting.
