Job Description

ITW Powertrain Metals Division serves major tier suppliers with tightly toleranced and innovative components for the automotive and industrial markets totaling approximately $300M in revenues globally. The Division holds a leadership position in North America and a growing presence in Europe. The division also supports ITW initatives for our facility in China.

The division drives profitability by leveraging its innovative solutions, design engineering and global footprint.

Position Summary:

The Account Manager is responsible for representing ITW Powertrain Metals technical capabilities to existing and potential new customers in an effort to sell new products and fill open capacity.


  • Identify current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.

  • Prepare cost estimates by studying blueprints, plans, and related customer documents; consulting with engineers, architects, and other professional and technical personnel.

  • Monitor tooling products and provide necessary feedback to internal and external customers.

  • Work with customers to offer alternatives to unresolvable situations.

  • Set up and maintain active job files on correspondence and all related paper work to document your activities with customers.

  • Conduct weekly job status meetings to provide information on all current programs being launched according to TS16949 procedures.

  • Provide other departments with related information they need to carry out their assigned responsibilities in meeting customer requirements.

  • Communicate frequently with customers; visit active and potential customers as required to maintain or achieve healthy relationships.

  • Relay customer PPAP requirements to the Quality Department according to TS16949 procedures.

  • Conduct initial product P.O. review meetings according to TS16949 procedures.

  • Continually strive to identify and develop new markets.

  • Interface regularly with outside sales representatives, keeping them abreast of such things as order status, market trends, and customer concerns.

  • Complete other duties as assigned or directed.

Job Requirements

Position Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, advanced degree a plus.

  • Sales background, preferably selling to automotive.

  • Knowledge of metallurgy, steel and deep draw stamping.

  • Ability to communicate, negotiate, and to close a deal.

  • Ability to effectively resolve complex problems among internal departments, customers, and representatives.

  • Strong technical skills with proficiency in MS Office programs, with an emphasis on Excel. QAD experience a plus.

  • Some travel required.
