NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
Open to current members of the Arizona Air National Guard, in the rank of E-7/MSgt promotable to E-8/SMSgt and current E-8/SMSgt. Applicants will maintain their current military assignment.
This job announcement is for employment as an Arizona Air National Guard Technician; a Federal/ Excepted Civil Service position. This is a dual-status technician job whereby you are required to maintain active membership in a National Guard unit/wing and are required to wear the military uniform at the workplace.
This position is located at the 162nd Wing, Tucson, AZ in the Maintenance Group. Work involves the overhaul of aircraft, including the disassembly, reassembly, and test phases of aircraft overhaul programs of fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components and assemblies, where the work requires substantive knowledge of the airframe and aircraft mechanical, pneudraulic, and/or electrical systems and their interrelationships. The purpose of this position is to supervise workers on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders, in accomplishing the work operations of the organizational segment or work shift and to perform associated nonsupervisory work.

APPOINTMENT FACTORS :This position is the Federal/Excepted Civil Service and is open to current members in the Arizona Air National Guard.Individual selected will receive an Indefinite Appointment
and may be converted to permanent based on availability of funds or position no longer being encumbered
Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard and be able to qualify for the following AFSC : 2AXXX or 2WXXX
Max Military Grade: E-8/SMSgt
Acceptance of a Federal Excepted technician position of over 179 days in length will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (BONUS). Individual selected will be required to take a pre-employment medical screening which will be paid for by the Agency.
Permanent Change of Station (PCS) funds are not available for this position.
This position is subject to rotating or night shift work.
QUALIFICATION:* Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor, WS-8801-13, E-7(promotable to E-8) and current E-8*
Specialized Experience: Must have at least 36 months experience, education or training providing general instructions for the accomplishment of assigned work operations with the limits of policies and basic production schedules set by management officials. Completed work is evaluated for effective and economical use of personnel, equipment, materials and methods to meet the production goals and quality standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE IN THIS POSITION:
Ability assign and explain work requirements to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines.
Skills to analyze production, cost and personnel utilization records and makes adjustment in operations to correct problems.
Ability to recommend promotion or assignment of subordinate supervisors and reviews personnel actions prepared by them.
Knowledge to use various management tools and computer technologies to ensure effective control of work activities.
Ability to participate in production meetings to set priorities in accomplishing the scheduled maintenance plan.
Ability to hear and resolve grievances and ensures proper corrective action is taken.
