NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED – This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Open to current members and those eligible for membership in the Arizona Air National Guard, in the rank of E1-E5 . Applicants will maintain their current military assignment.

This job announcement is for employment as an Arizona Air National Guard Technician; a Federal/ Excepted Civil Service position. This is a dual-status technician job whereby you are required to maintain active membership in a National Guard unit/wing and are required to wear the military uniform at the workplace.

* NOTE: Military grade will be determined at time of selection and is dependent upon military positions available on the Unit Manning Document (UMD). Individual selected may have to be reduced in grade if a military position at their current grade is not available in order to be selected for this fulltime position.*


This position is located within ANG Aviation Wing (F-16), Aircraft Maintenance Group, where the incumbent of this position works in an Avionics Flight Line organization. The primary purpose of this position is to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate and rebuild multi-system complexes, which consist of several complete integrated electronic avionics systems, where the multi-system complex accomplishes a number of major functions. Install, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds, aligns and calibrates complete electronic avionics multi-systems. Troubleshoots malfunctions and analyzes system performance utilizing aircrew debrief data, Technical Orders, schematic and wiring diagrams, engineering drawing, data downloads from various systems, waveform analysis from Time Domain Reflectometer and Joint Services Electronic Combat Test Set (JSECTS), Mulitplex Bus Fault Isolation Test Set, common and system specific test equipment and built in system tests. Removes faulty system components and line replaceable units, (LRUs). Installs serviceable components and LRUs or repairs faulty wiring as required. Recommends hardware and software changes. Submits change recommendations to Technical Orders. Requisitions supply assets and processes repairable assets in accordance with Standard Base Supply System requirements. *QUALIFICATION: *Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, WG-2610-11/12/13, E1-E5

Specialized Experience: WG-11 18 months, WG-12 24 months, WG-13 24 months with 5 Level experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic integrated systems equipment; experience in diagnosing aircraft discrepancies and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic integrated systems; experience in performing repairs that required the use of complex tools and equipment; experience in using a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment; experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications?


  1. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  2. Ability to utilize electronic schematics and wiring diagrams to analyze performance and isolate malfunctions.

  3. Knowledge of electronic theories and practices of integrated electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, optical, and mechanical systems of such applications as radar, digital or analog computers and digital display devices.

  4. Comprehensive knowledge of the integrated electronics systems and the interaction of the complete aircraft avionics multi-systems complex on the F-16 aircraft.

  5. Ability to accurately identify and isolate malfunctions of the complete multiple integrated system complexes consisting of closely interrelated integrated and non-integrated systems.

  6. Knowledge of Targeting Pod and Digital Recording devices and their integration with the overall avionics package.
