We are recruiting for a full-time urologist to join our growing Urology Department. The Tucson VA is the principal teaching affiliate with the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy; medical students, residents, and fellows rotate at the facility. Therefore, the selected candidate must also be eligible for an appointment with the University of Arizona. The Tucson VA is a tertiary care facility providing a full range of clinical services including cardiac surgery and neurosurgery. It has been a flagship quality provider within the VA and was a 2012 winner of the prestigious Robert W. Carey Performance Excellence Award.

As a staff Urologist, you will serve in the Urology Department within Surgical Care Line at the Southern Arizona Va Health Care System in Tucson, Arizona.

  • Provide effective delivery of urology care while meeting and exceeding specialty standards.

  • Perform adult male and female urology procedures.

  • Participate in and/or manage all aspects of a general urology surgery program, to include clinical, administrative, academic, and research components.

  • Manage patient workload within available staffing, which may include support of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and residents.

  • Perform the usual administrative components of patient care management, to include documentation of progress notes and consultation findings in an electronic medical record; dictation and electronic signature of OP reports; electronic entry and signature of all doctor's orders for outpatients, etc.

  • Provide surgical treatment for genitourinary injuries and diseases including major and minor procedures, consultations for in-patients and outpatients, and participates in VA-approved cooperative research studies.

Preferred Experience:

  1. Completion of fellowship training in minimally invasive urologic surgery is preferred, to include experience with daVinci robotic surgery.

  2. Experience with academic medical practice in a teaching hospital.

  3. Candidates who are board certified or board eligible, as recognized by an approved American specialty board, in Urology.

  2. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
